Max Payne 3 certainly looks jolly nice, but will Rockstar let us try for ourselves before we buy? Of course not. There will no demo for Max Payne's Brazillian adventure, Rockstar has confirmed, so if you're still skeptical about Max's Brazilian adventure, you may have to pop around a friend's and play their copy.

SimCity debuted at GDC but it wasn't until our trip to Maxis that we got a good look at what the developer has planned for the game and some insights from its "mayor," lead producer Kip Katsarellis. Next up, Max Payne 3 adds multiplayer to its mix and a new trailer along with some info from the team explains how bullet time works online. And the next next-gen console rumors continue to heat up. This time, it's a laundry list of specs and features for a new PlayStation.

Multiplayer bullet time is one of the shooty treats shown off in a new Max Payne 3 trailer focusing on its online action, along with the 'Gang Wars' and 'Payne Killer' modes. If you've been skeptical of the formerly single-player series picking up multiplayer, have a butcher's and see what you make of it.

When I previewed Max Payne 3 last year, I applauded the game's cinematic cutscenes. While it may not copy the look of the first two games, the graphic novel-inspired movie sequences are quite unique, thanks to dynamic text overlays, and Michael Mann-inspired camera and lighting work. In a new trailer released by Rockstar Games, you'll see exactly how they look.

Outside of Tom Sawyer and Ebeneezer Scrooge, most people don't get to see their own gravestone. You'll be able to get at least a virtual funeral with a contest for Max Payne 3. The game is holding a promotion with GameStop stores to let your name appear on a headstone in the "Cemetery" multiplayer map.

Though still getting ready for a May 29 release in North America (and June 1 in Europe), Rockstar Vancouver has unveiled the first PC-specific screenshots for Max Payne 3. The shots show off an incredible amount of detail, and feature Max with hair, Max without hair, and Max in a tense showdown with a member of a gang called the Crachá Preto. Roughly translated from Portuguese, the name means something along the lines of "Black Badge."

Fans have had a lot of questions about Max Payne's return to gaming. Can Rockstar do it without Remedy at the helm? Why is Max bald? Why is he in Brazil? And is it still noir?
While Rockstar has been slowly answering these questions, there's one question that have gone overlooked: what kind of mess did Max get himself in this time?

[Update: 09:53] Rockstar has told Shacknews that it has no official comment on why Max Payne 3 is hitting PC a fortnight after consoles.
[Original] Rockstar's Max Payne 3 has dove sideways in slow-motion through its planned March 2012, shattering it, and is now heading towards a May launch, parent company Take-Two has announced. The extra time will be used, naturally, to properly finish the game.

You know that parody tune "Cool Guys Don't Look at Explosions"? We're pretty sure it was written about these Max Payne 3 screens. The fourteen shots feature both single- and multiplayer destruction, and make the game look fairly badass.
Rockstar's upcoming return to the gritty world of Max Payne launches this March on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. You can check out the new screens after the break.

The first details of what we can expect from Max Payne 3's new multiplayer mode have finally surfaced. As promised, the developer is keen on keeping the series' narrative focus intact. The newly-announced "Gang Wars" mode serves as the focal point for MP3 multiplayer, and will offer a series of story-connected sequences that determine each round's objective.

Max Payne 3 is the next step for the series, but also serves a broader purpose as Rockstar's next evolution of using the Euphoria engine. Since committing to use Euphoria for its games, Rockstar has been making strides with the physics engine to create more realistic reactions.
"I think we had a good jump from GTA4 to Red Dead, and you're going to see another good jump from Red Dead to Max," said art director Rob Nelson.
