Mass Effect 3 post-ending DLC teased by BioWare

The ending of Mass Effect 3 has proven unpopular with some who've played it, and even more who haven't, but now those cheeky scamps at BioWare are hinting that maybe, just maybe, that's not the end of it all. Plainly, this story features spoilers for the end of ME3.

Rumor: Mass Effect 3 multiplayer DLC spotted

BioWare has promised DLC for both the single player and multiplayer halves of Mass Effect 3.

"We're going to be shipping with a pretty impressive array of different things you can unlock... but we're also planning on expanding that over time," BioWare's Casey Hudson previously said. A purported leak shows what some of those "expansions" will be.

BioWare clarifies Mass Effect 3 'multiplayer in relation to the endings'

Progressing through the overarching campaign of Mass Effect 3 affects two primary statistics that impact the "end-game" players will receive: "Galactic Readiness," and "Effective Military Strength." Shortly after the game's release, some confusion arose about Mass Effect 3's multiple endings--specifically what one would need to do to achieve the game's "best" ending. Numerous claims from users arose, who believed that it wasn't possible to be completely prepared for the game's finale without boosting "Galactic Readiness," which can only be accomplished by playing the multiplayer component (or the iOS game, Infiltrator). Not true, says BioWare.

Mass Effect 3 ships 3.5M copies

Mass Effect 3 ships 3.5M copies

Mass Effect 3 has only been available at retail since this past Tuesday, but that's enough time for publisher Electronic Arts to have shipped three and a half million units of the game. The final chapter of Commander Shepard's galaxy-saving, sci-fi opus has been incredibly well received by critics. Shacknews' Garnett Lee called the experience one that would be "equally at home on the pages of a New York Times bestseller or a blockbuster Hollywood production," in his recent review.

Mass Effect 3 review

Mass Effect 3 review

I sit mentally slack jawed considering the completion of Mass Effect 3. The word epic gets bandied about a lot in describing video games. That's a shame. Never has it been more applicable and I want to convey just how momentous this event is. Mass Effect 3 concludes this classic sci-fi saga in truly epic fashion. The heroic Commander Shepard leads the universe in its final desperate fight to survive against the overwhelming might of the alien Reapers in a scenario that would be equally at home on the pages of a New York Times bestseller or a blockbuster Hollywood production.

Mass Effect 3 can't import cloud saves on Xbox 360

Mass Effect 3 can't import cloud saves on Xbox 360

Cloud saving can be a helpful convenience for Xbox Live Gold members that take advantage of it. However, Mass Effect fans are advised not to use the feature. Electronic Arts notes that Xbox 360 gamers who intend to import Commander Shepard into Mass Effect 3 via a completed save file from Mass Effect 2 had best do so directly from the hard drive of the console on which they completed the series' second chapter. Apparently, trying to import a Mass Effect 2 end-game save via Xbox 360 cloud storage won't work.

Mass Effect 3 reputation system to allow 'morally gray' playthrough

Mass Effect 3 reputation system to allow 'morally gray' playthrough

One of the gimmicks of the Mass Effect series has been the ability to play as the "good" or "bad" guy while saving the universe. Your actions earned Paragon and Renegade points--and you needed a certain amount to unlock some of the more important conversation options. Unfortunately, that meant that players that didn't play exclusively in one direction were penalized, unable to acquire a sufficient amount of morality points.

That problem is finally being fixed in Mass Effect 3, with BioWare promising a rewarding experience even for those that like to play a "morally gray" Shepard.

Mass Effect 3 includes reversible 'FemShep' cover, Xbox Live trial

BioWare has ceremoniously unboxed a retail box copy of Mass Effect 3 for Xbox 360. While these are rarely noteworthy (especially for non-collector's edition versions), the regular retail edition includes a special bonus that certain fans will definitely appreciate.

All retail copies of the game, regardless of platform, will include a reversible cover feature the default female version of Shepard, donned "FemShep" by the community.
