After being teased in trailers and other promotional material, Capcom has finally revealed Viewtiful Joe and Dormammu have been added to the roster for its upcoming, crossover fighter.
First introduced to gamers in 2003, Viewtiful Joe was the brainchild of the same team that brought the world Okami--another franchise represented in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The quick-witted character also appeared in Capcom's other crossover series, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars. Read more »

Although Capcom just revealed four new characters for its upcoming crossover fighter Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, Marvel apparently wanted to join the announcement party as the company quietly (and accidentally) revealed two more members of the roster earlier today.
On the Marvel.com screenshot gallery for the game, images featuring The Mighty Thor and Okami's Amaterasu were uploaded. Unfortunately for the MvC3 marketing team, neither character has been confirmed for the upcoming title. Read more »

QUICKTAKE: Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2000's Marvel vs. Capcom 2. The project is being directed by Ryota Niitsuma, who last worked on the Wii fighter Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
Like Capcom's Street Fighter IV, the game utilizes full 3D character models and backgrounds, but is played upon a 2D plane for old-school gameplay. MvC3 is slower paced than MvC2, but the combos are just as impressive. A simplified control scheme adds some accessibility, but doesn't remove the depth. Fans should expect this one to live up to the hype. Read more »

In an interview with GameTrailers (via VG247), producer Ryota Niitsuma revealed that development began on Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in summer 2008 with the legal and contractual process taking place "well before" that.
Furthermore, production on MvC3 began before the success of Marvel vs. Capcom 2's release on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. When MvC2 came out, Capcom and Marvel were both smaller companies and the legal side of it was easier to deal with. Read more »

By the time Marvel vs. Capcom 3 hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the spring of 2011, it will have been over decade since the last game in the series, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, debuted.
If anything, the wait has only served as an extended period for fans to percolate on the prospects for a new version. Only a teaser trailer for the game revealing Ryu, Morrigan, and Chris Redfield for Capcom and Wolverine, Iron Man, and Hulk for Marvel (with hints at a couple others) was shown as an introduction, but that and the first few tidbits of information are sure to spark many debates. At its annual Captivate media summit, publisher and developer Capcom confirmed three games--two new, one previously known--for Europe and North America:
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds
Leading the trio is the long awaited Marvel vs. Capcom 3, a full-fledged disc-based sequel due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the spring of 2011. Riding the resurgence of interest in 2D fighting games behind the success of Street Fighter 4, the new game will take a similar approach to making a modern update of a classic. Its roster will include a selection of returning fighters from the series and new characters both Marvel and Capcom have created over the years since the last game came out. For more info check out our Marvel vs. Capcom 3 preview with all the details from the unveiling presentation including comments from producer Ryota Niitsuma. Read more »
