If you've been waiting for Nintendo to release more sports game starring Mario and his chums, you'll be pleased to hear your wait is almost at an end, as it was announced today that Mario Sports Mix's launch on Wii is scheduled for February 7, 2011.
Mario Sports Mix packs hockey, basketball, volleyball and dodgeball games in a variety of exotic environments, some of which will affect the game. As ever, there are power-ups such as green shells, banana peels and all that gubbins to mess with opponents. Read more »

Quick Take: Mario and pals return for more athletic endeavors, Bo Jackson style! Instead of a single sport it's arcade basketball, volleyball, hockey, and dodgeball. The gameplay shown at E3 2010 was perfect for parties, but it remains to be seen if this game will have the depth of Mario Golf or Mario Tennis.
I'm a huge fan of the Mario sports titles, particularly Mario Golf and Mario Tennis. I even enjoyed Mario Baseball more than most. I was excited to see Mario Sports Mix at Nintendo's E3 2010 press conference. The video Nintendo showed had Mario and pals playing basketball volleyball, hockey, and dodgeball. At Nintendo's booth only basketball and volleyball were playable. What I played at the booth was definitely fun, but I'm not yet convinced that this game has the staying power of Mario's golf and tennis outings. Read more »

A new compilation of sports-centric mini-games starring iconic Nintendo mascots Mario, Luigi and others is coming to Wii next year, Nintendo announced this morning.
Among the activities shown were basketball, hockey and dodgeball, with the actual game itself--titled Mario Sports Mix--due in 2011.
