LostWinds Sequel Gets Name, First Media

Having revealed a sequel to LostWinds mere hours after the launch of the WiiWare original in May 2008, developer Frontier today issued the first media and some details.

Dubbed "LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias," the wind-blowing platformer will let players "instantly transform Mistralis between Summer and Winter," which can help to uncover secrets or solve puzzles, such as an item hidden at the bottom of frozen lake. Read more »

Midnight Club: Los Angeles DLC Finally on Xbox 360

Rockstar's twice-delayed South Central add-on for Midnight Club: Los Angeles arrived on the Xbox 360 today, expanding the city of the open-world racer by roughly 33%.

The free South Central expansion is temporarily an Xbox Live Gold-only download, while anyone willing to pony up the 800 Microsoft Points ($10) can grab the Premium Upgrade, which adds more races, cars, music, and such. Read more »

Midnight Club: Los Angeles DLC Delayed

Once expected to arrive March 12, the South Central downloadale add-ons for Midnight Club: Los Angeles (PS3, 360) have suffered a slight delay, and are now due March 19.

The update will arrive in two forms: a free download that expands the open-world racer to include the South Central area, and a $10 download with more cars and races. Read more »

Midnight Club DLC 'Accidentally' Released Early, Downloaders Advised to Delete

A batch of free downloadable content for Midnight Club: Los Angeles was mistakenly posted on the Xbox Live Marketplace last night. Though now removed, Microsoft is advising anyone who downloaded the pack to delete it as "it may not work properly."

"The Achievements won't register and [it] could cause you problems with your Midnight Club: LA game saves," reads EMEA Xbox community manager Graeme Boyd's blog. Read more »

Midnight Club: Los Angeles DLC Revealed

Rockstar San Diego's open-world racer Midnight Club: Los Angeles (PS3, 360) will gain two downloadable content packs early next year--one free, one paid--that will expand the game world and add a variety of new vehicles and race.

Roughly 1/3 the size of the original map, the free South Central Upgrade Map adds a number of landmarks, such as Exposition Park, the USC campus, Shrine Auditorium, Crenshaw Plaza, and the L.A. Memorial Coliseum, with Rockstar adding that the new area "stretches south to the 105 Freeway." Read more »

Midnight Club: Los Angeles Title Update Released

Rockstar Games has announced the availability of a title update for its racing game sequel Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Available for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, the patch offers improved AI that dynamically adjusts to the user skill level -- many reviews noted the game was incredibly difficult.

The Xbox 360 patch also adds extra leaderboards for tournaments through the Rockstar Games Social Club, improved multiplayer match searching, and "upgraded streaming and performance".

World of Goo Hits Wii October 13, LostWinds Revealed as Top-selling WiiWare Game

2D Boy's Independent Games Festival 2008 winner World of Goo will bring its physics-based puzzle solving hijinks to Wii as a downloadable WiiWare release on October 13, Nintendo has revealed.

The announcement came as part of a Nintendo press event today, though PR director Marc Franklin did not disclose a specific price point.

While at the podium, Franklin also announced that Frontier's downlodable wind-blowing Wii platformer game LostWinds has been among WiiWare's best-selling games since the service launched back in May.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles Delayed Until Oct. 21

Rockstar San Diego's oft-postponed racer Midnight Club: Los Angeles (PS3, 360) has suffered yet another delay, publisher Take-Two Interactive announced today.

Once slated to arrive on October 7, the game's release has now been pushed until October 21. In a conference call today, Take-Two CFO Lainie Goldstein explained that the delay was due to marketing reasons. Read more »
