According to a lengthy blog post by Mogan Haro, Hudson Entertainment's Brand and Product Manager and Producer of all online entertainment, Hudson Entertainment is closing up shop. Hudson Entertainment is best known for creating both the Bomberman and Bonk series, and most recently released the Wii-exclusive Lost in Shadow. The closure follows the recent acquisition of the entirety of the Hudson Group by Konami.

Everyone is excited to get back in the studio for this first show of 2011. Though new releases cooled over the holidays, Garnett, Brian, and Jeff have plenty of stories for Whatcha Been Playin? Catch up time includes classics like Uncharted 2 and more recent titles such as Vanquish and Bad Company 2 "Vietnam". Jeff got in some time with a new game too; he has mixed feelings about Lost in Shadow, though. Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick, in an interview with Reuters, said that "annualizing" franchises like Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto would threaten their quality and might even burn out consumers.
Zelnick doesn't feel that Activision's strategy with Call of Duty would work for two of Take-Two's most lucrative franchises. Rockstar Games, the studio responsible for both franchises, is owned by Take-Two and is currently working on L.A. Noire and the often delayed Max Payne 3. Read more »

2K Sports has revealed that its recent contest to win $1 million by pitching a perfect MLB 2K10 game on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 was won on the first day of the competition.
"It was actually my wife who convinced me to go for it," said 24-year old winner Wade McGilberry of Semmes, Alabama. "I never thought I'd actually win a million dollars playing a video game, it's all still sinking in for me." Read more »

Helping to explain the story behind Lost in Shadow, developer Hudson has passed along some new media from the distinctively puzzling platformer coming to Wii this fall.
The Konami-distributed game follows the journey of a hooded shadow and his companion "Spangle" as they climb the shadows of "the Tower," using light and shadows to navigate and solve puzzles whilst battling "shadow creatures" with what the company describes as "traditional weapons." Read more »

A free, playable demo for 2K Sports' MLB 2K10 is now available for Xbox Live Gold subscribers through the Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo includes 3-innings of play between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies at Yankee Stadium. If you want a chance at the $1 million prize for pitching the first perfect game in MLB 2K10, you'll probably want to get started today.
The demo will hit the PlayStation 3 on March 4, 2010, which is two days after the game is released at retail. This is most likely when Xbox Live Silver subscribers will get access, as well. Read more »

2K Sports will reward the first person who pitches a perfect game in either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version of Major League Baseball 2K10, the company said today.
Perhaps "reward" is a bit of an understatement. The first player to pitch a perfect game in MLB 2K10 between March 2nd and May 1st will receive a $1,000,000 grand prize, making "America's favorite pastime" even more beloved for one skilled winner. Read more »

Publisher 2K Sports has loaded the bases with a trio of trailers for developer Visual Concepts' upcoming baseball game, MLB 2K10. These highlights pit some high-profile pitchers against the game's biggest hitters.
Representing the pitchers' side are players like Oakland A's closer and 2009 Rookie of the Year, Andrew Bailey, as well as others like Detroit Tigers' starter Justin Verlander, and Seattle Mariners' Felix Hernandez. First basemen Kendry Morales of the Los Angeles Angels and Justin Morneau of the Minnesota Twins join Tampa Bay third baseman Evan Longoria and Rangers' right fielder Nelson Cruise to make the case from the batter's box.
