Journey has been a critical success for thatgamecompany, not least of which because of its stirring score from composer Austin Wintory. It recently won a VGA and was nominated for a Grammy. As a follow-up, Wintory is apparently composing for a storied franchise, albeit not one so praised for its artistry: Leisure Suit Larry.

Larry, that smarmy little Lethario in a leisure suit, will be returning to your computer in reloaded form, thanks to developer Replay Games achieving its Kickstarter goal of $500,000 earlier today, with seven days still left in the campaign.

You all supported Double Fine's Kickstarter adventure to smashing success, kicking off a flurry of other Kickstarter game projects like the recent Takedown. So with those projects out of the way, how do you feel about funding a sad, desperate Lothario who may be well past his prime?

2012 marks the 25th anniversary of the Leisure Suit Larry series, and while the last several offerings in the franchise haven't been very good, it looks like Larry Laffer is poised to return in both a high-definition remake of the original game--Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards--as well as all-new adventures. Developer Replay Games has recently secured the rights to the franchise, and are bringing series-creator Al Lowe back on board.
