In an effort to drive some re-subscriptions to its trio of MMORPG games, BioWare Mythic is running a 14-day "Return of the Legends Re-Enlistment Celebration" for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Dark Age of Camelot, and Ultima Online.

BioWare Mythic, formerly EA Mythic, has taken over "publishing, operating and subscription service rights" to its MMORPG Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR) in Europe, which was previously handled by GOA, a division of France Telecom.
BioWare Mythic had previously taken control of Dark Age of Camelot from GOA back in February. As WAR transitions between the two companies, European players can expect 48 to 72 hours of downtime. Once the game returns, all current and former players will receive 14 days of free play time to celebrate the takeover. Read more »

Some Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning subscribers are reporting that they have been billed over and over again during a single month in what appears to be a massive failure of the game's billing system.
Users are reporting being charged between $300 and upwards of $1000 in some cases. Additionally, users are reporting overdraft charges with their banks due to balances being zeroed out on debit accounts. Read more »

Warhammer Online developer Mythic Entertainment has introduced an unlimited free trial for its fantasy MMORPG to replace the previous ten-day trial introduced in March.
Characters on trial accounts will be restricted by a level cap of ten and confined to two 'Empire vs. Chaos' zones--Nordland and Norsca--plus three instanced PvP scenarios and one dungeon, though they can of course play them for as long as they please. Read more »

It's been over a year since we've posted any sort of new media for Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, but newfound publisher Codemasters fixed that today as it issued two new trailers and several screenshots from the suggestive Team 17 adventure game.
The PC and Xbox 360 versions of Box Office Bust are due to arrive in North America on March 31, with the PlayStation 3 version following later on. As with the last Larry game, High Voltage's Magna Cum Laude, series creator Al Lowe was not involved. Read more »

Mythic today announced that the Dwarf Slayer and Orc Choppa careers have gone live in Warhammer Online.
Both classes are essentially berserkers, with a rage mechanic that allows them to build up power as they fight.

Marketing research firm NPD has issued its weekly list of the ten best-selling PC games at United States retailers, this one covering the first week of March.
That week saw the debut of The Creative Assembly's historical strategy game Empire: Total War, which also topped the chart for digital distribution site Direct2Drive. Mythic's Warhammer Online also reappeared, probably due to a lowered average price. Read more »

Mythic Entertainment today kicked off its three-month long "live expansion" for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning with the 1.2 patch, which adds two new careers to the MMO along with a new scenario, new treasures, and various other tweaks.
By completing the new "Bitter Rivals" event, which includes the new RvR "Twisted Tower" scenario, players will be able access the two new melee-focused careers--the Orc Choppa and Dwarf Slayer--a week before everyone else. Two new secret lairs have been added as well, along with an improved crafting system and easy public quests. Read more »

Codemasters has signed on to publish Team17's Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust (PC, PS3, X360), according to a listing on its official site noticed by Big Download.
The adventure title was one of the many left without a publisher following last year's Activision Blizzard merger, in which the new company dropped many of the titles that were to be published by Sierra Entertainment. The game's now due out this spring. Read more »

Following yesterday's rumor that indicated Warhammer Online developer Mythic had let go between 60-130 of its employees, company representatives today confirmed that the studio has indeed downsized.
"Mythic is resizing the team to move from a pre-launch to a post-launch size and remains fully committed to maintaining the trust of the WAR players," reads a company statement sent to Shacknews. Read more »

Update: Joystiq is now reporting that "several well-placed sources" have confirmed a new round of Mythic layoffs, on the order of 60-130 employees.
The story claims that the layoffs extend to the development staff, including senior designers. Shacknews has contacted Mythic owner Electronic Arts for comment. Read more »

Developer Mythic Entertainment has revealed its plans to bring free new features and content to Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (PC) between March and June.
Dubbed the "'Call to Arms' live expansion," the three-month-long update will add two new careers to the MMO--the Orc Choppa and the Dwarf Slayer--along with a new dungeon zone, three in-game live events, a new RvR scenario, and a free trial version. Read more »

Following rumors that Warhammer Online developer Mythic Entertainment lost some staff in the latest round of cost-cutting measures for studio owner Electronic Arts, Mythic VP Mark Jacobs has assured fans that its PC MMO will continue to be supported.
"It's not like we had a small team at launch or even a small team now," he wrote in forum post. "I have a very large team continuing to work on WAR now and going forward and we'll continue to build with that." The rumor claims all of Mythic's playtesters were let go, along with half of its QA team and 21 customer service employees. Read more »
