Lego renews Star Wars license for ten more years

Lucasfilm Ltd announced today that it renewed its Star Wars deal with the Lego group, ensuring more toys and video games to come in the popular line. The deal extends for the next ten years, so we should have plenty of time to see more Lego games hitting store shelves.

320GB hard drive for Xbox 360 S available this month

The hard drive will retail for $129.99 and will include an Xbox Live download code for LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.

April NPD: Mortal Kombat beats Portal 2

The NPD Group released its retail-only sales data for April 2011 last night, and it shows some positives signs for the industry. Physical software sales grew in both units and dollars for the first time since November.

Mortal Kombat took the top spot with 900,000 units, edging out Portal 2. It's worth noting, of course, that Portal 2 probably saw more than a few purchases through Steam, which isn't tracked by NPD and may never be. Read more »

March NPD: 3DS launch-o-rama

Market research firm has issued its latest monthly retail-only sales report, covering February 27 through April 2--the first since the Nintendo 3DS handheld launched in March. As ever, console manufacturers have come out of the woodwork to support the report with figures and marketing spin.

Nintendo relays that the 3DS sold "just shy of 400,000 units" in the US within its first seven days of sale after launching on March 27. This falls slightly short of the regular Nintendo DS models, which combined sold 460,000 units. Read more »

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars Announced

Traveller's Tales and LucasArts today announced the latest fruit of their long-running plastic platonic relationship, the cartoon-inspired LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.

Clone Wars features "fan-favourite characters" from Star Wars movies as well as the animated series, plus "brand new battle modes, giving players unique, head-to-head combat and an upgraded level builder" as well as abilities such as "Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-Ups."
