Razer, Sixense and Valve Bringing Motion Controls and Gesture Recognition Hardware to PC Games

Gaming hardware developer Razer has announced a new multi-year partnership with Sixense Entertainment and Valve Software to deliver a, "...revolutionary true-to-life, next-generation motion sensing and gesture recognition controller for PC gaming."

Razer, Valve, and Sixense, along with a selection of PC OEM partners, are aiming to produce, "...ultra-precise one-to-one motion sensing controllers that use electromagnetic fields to track precise movements along all six axes." Each controller will reportedly track its orientation within a single degree, and detect positioning within one millimeter. Weekly PC Sales: Star Trek Online, Sales Stars and the Unstoppable Modern Warfare 2

Steam's sales chart for the post-Christmas week is naturally dominated by many of its holiday deals, though the unstoppable Modern Warfare 2 sticks it out at full price to claim the number two spot by quality of sale rather than quantity in the revenue race.

Though the Midnight Riders didn't hit the big time until their explosive debut in Left 4 Dead 2 circa November 2009, the fictional quartet's YouTube Channel has been updated with an overlooked 1998 single, titled "All I Want For Christmas (is to Kick Your Ass)."

Left 4 Dead 2 PC Mod Tools, Support Arrive

On top of knocking 33% off Left 4 Dead 2 PC today, developer Valve has released the tools that allow owners of the zombie shooter to create and play their own content.

The optional "Add-on Support" and "Authoring Tools" downloads are now available to owners via Steam's "Tools" tab, respectively weighing in at 350MB and 20MB. The "Add-on Support" download allows Left 4 Dead 2 to run "ANY map, including custom maps made for the original Left 4 Dead," according to Valve's Yasser Malaika. Read more »

Trailer Precedes 'Rubber Soul' DLC for The Beatles: Rock Band

A new trailer showing off the third album-sized downloadable track pack for The Beatles: Rock Band has arrived. The upcoming downloadable track-pack brings players the 15 remaining songs from the album "Rubber Soul" to The Beatles: Rock Band that didn't come with the original game.

Left 4 Dead 2 DLC 'The Passing' Announced

The first downloadable add-on for zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2 is slated to hit PC and Xbox 360 in the "early spring," developer Valve announced today.

A crossover of undead proportions, "The Passing" sees the original Left 4 Dead survivors meet up with those of Left 4 Dead 2, with players taking control of the L4D2 crew.

Rock Band DLC 'Gives You Hell' as The Beatles: RB Completes Rubber Soul Next Week

Next week's lineup of downloadable tunes coming to Rock Band, LEGO Rock Band and The Beatles: Rock Band has been unveiled by series developer Harmonix, with everything slated to hit Xbox 360 and Wii on December 15 then PS3 on December 17.

First up, the assortment of regular Rock Band and LEGO Rock Band DLC, which carry the usual price of $2 / 160 Microsoft Points / 200 Wii Points per song and $5.49 / 440 MS Points for the three-song "Green Day Pack 02" bundle." Read more »

Left 4 Dead 2 Sells Over 2 Million Copies at Retail; Downloadable Content News 'Very Soon'

Valve's multiplayer-centric zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2 has sold "over 2 million retail copies" worldwide since it released on November 17, the developer said today.

"[Left 4 Dead 2] appears to be on target to become one of the top selling Xbox [360] and PC titles for the month of November," reads an announcement sent out by Valve. As the above figure only details sales of physical retail copies, the numbers do not include copies of the game sold through Valve's PC digital distribution platform Steam. Read more »

The Beatles: Rock Band Trailer Greets Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band DLC

With The Beatles: Rock Band set to receive the eight Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band tracks not included with the rhythm game this week as downloadable content, Harmonix has put together a medley trailer celebrating the whole psychedelic shebang.

The album's eight remaining tracks arrive on Xbox 360 and Wii today for $2 (160 Microsoft Points) a pop then are due Thursday on PlayStation 3. 360 and PS3 players can buy them as a bumper bargain track pack for $13.49 (1080 Microsoft Points). Read more »

Harmonix has pinned down the release date of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band full album downloadable content for The Beatles: Rock Band to next week.

Arriving November 17 on Xbox 360 and Wii then November 19 on PlayStation 3 to buy as a track pack or individually, the eight 'new' Sgt. Pepper's tracks will combine with the five already on the disc to complete the fab four's famed psychedelic album from 1967. Read more »

Left 4 Dead 2 PC Now Pre-Loading on Steam

Valve has begun pre-loading Left 4 Dead 2 PC via Steam, allowing pre-purchasers to download 6.1GB of the zombie shooter sequel before its November 17 release.

To begin the process, right-click on Left 4 Dead 2 in Steam's "My games" tab, select "View pre-load info..." and follow the steps. Once the download is complete, Valve promises that "when the game is officially released, you'll be able to play it immediately." Read more »
