League of Legends traffics a lot of players on a daily basis--12 million at last count. That player count means it's bound to have some bad behavior, but it also gives developer Riot Games plenty of room for testing. It began a series of player behavior initiatives last year, and has detailed the results.

League of Legends is hardly short on players, boasting 32 million active monthly and 12 million daily, but it's set to expand even more. After a spot of testing, Riot has properly released an open beta Mac client for its Dote 'em up, for the enjoyment of everyone gaming on a shiny white box.

Players of League of Legends are being notified of a recent hack that has compromised personal information. According to Riot Games, hackers have "gained access" to player data, including e-mail addresses, passwords, date of birth, and security questions and answers. The company is advising potentially affected players to change their passwords, as "more than half of the passwords were simple enough to be at risk of easy cracking."

Developer Riot Games has revealed new details for the newest update to its free-to-play title League of Legends. The major update will focus on improving bot intelligence in and attempt to make the game's co-op vs. AI modes more engaging.

If the string of developers making the same game with the exact same map weren't a big enough hint that the MOBA--Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, or 'DotA clone' to you and me--is getting big, the genre's now getting its very own mouse. Peripheral maker Razer yesterday at CES announced the Naga Hex, packing six extra buttons designed for your Doting pleasure.

With season one firmly in the books, League of Legends has now launched season two. The second round of competitive gaming introduces a significantly bigger prize pool spread across various events, and developer Riot Games will be broadcasting highlights through its Web site throughout the event.

Last month, we reported that Riot Games' free-to-play, action-RPG League of Legends would be getting a new game mode called "Dominion," soon. It's not yet time for the mode's official release, but Riot has announced that a limited beta test for the new mode is beginning today.

The Mac version of League of Legends, which began semi-public testing last year, is to be discontinued this week following trouble keeping it up to date with the PC edition. Developer Riot Games still hopes to bring the DotA-'em up to Mac in the future, but it won't be any time soon.
