First Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light DLC Free for '30 Days' Upon Launch on the Xbox 360

Square Enix brings good news to those looking forward to Lara Croft's first downloadable adventure. Following word that Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light would see five downloadable content releases, Square Enix revealed the first content pack will be offered for free on the Xbox 360 for the first 30 days after launch, once it is released.

Presumably the decision was made to apologize to gamers that Lara's adventure would only see online co-op added in a title update after release. The Xbox 360 timed-exclusive is set to launch tomorrow as the final title in the 2010 Summer of Arcade promotion on Xbox Live. Read more »

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Dated for PC and PS3, DLC Detailed and Online Co-op Coming Late

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light might be an timed-exclusive for the Xbox 360, but we now know exactly when it'll hit the PlayStation Network and PC: September 28. The game will cost $15 on all platforms. The Xbox 360 version will be released on August 18.

Joystiq is reporting that while the Xbox 360 version will ship with local co-op only, but online co-op will be added to the game on September 28, the same day the game releases on PS3 and PC with online play as well. Read more »

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Xbox 360 Timed-Exclusive for Summer of Arcade

Lara Croft's first downloadable adventure, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, will be available exclusive on the Xbox 360 for at least four weeks, Eurogamer has learned. According to developer Crystal Dynamics, the timed-exclusivity is a requirement of titles included in Microsoft's Summer of Arcade promotion.

"Well, for exactly four weeks, really. The agreement with Microsoft is, in order to participate in their hugely successful Summer of Arcade promotion there is a window of exclusivity," Crystal Dynamics' Karl Stewart said. "That window of exclusivity is a set four weeks." Read more »

Xbox Live "Summer of Arcade" Dated and Priced

According to Microsoft, the best way to beat the summer heat is to stay inside and spend $15 every week.Today, Xbox.com updated its Summer of Arcade promotion page to reveal the dates and prices for each of the titles included. Each title in the promotion is priced at 1200MS Points ($15 earth dollars). Earlier, Konami seemingly jumped the marketing gun and revealed Castlevania: Harmony of Despair's date and price.

Rumor: Next Major Tomb Raider in the Works, Christmas 2011 Release Planned [Updated]

[Update: 4:03PM] A Square Enix representative has told Shacknews the company has "no comment" regarding a new major Tomb Raider installment.

[Original Story] Eurogamer reports, citing an unnamed source, the next "main game" in the Tomb Raider series is currently in development at Crystal Dynamics and will see life during the 2011 holiday season. According to Eurogamer's source, "some" of the artwork that was recently added to ex-CD artist Joel Boucquemont's online portfolio relate to the new title. Read more »

Lara Croft PC Using Steam for DRM

Crystal Dynamics' downloadable isometric action game Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will utilize digital distribution platform Steam for digital rights management on PC--meaning that the game will require the Steam client to be installed in the US.

"We've gone down the road of implementing Steam DRM where we've committed to the US being an exclusive and we're going to make a decision as to whether or not we'll use different distribution channels," brand manager Karl Stewart told CVG. Read more »

The first trailer for Crystal Dynamics' Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light has arrived, showing off the arcade-y downloadable Tomb Raider spin-off and its co-op action.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is due a downloadable release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this summer. Publisher Square Enix has yet to announce a price. Read more »

A puzzling glimpse of Lara Croft's two giant balls are among the new screenshots released today, presumably meant to help steel your mind for the isometric puzzles and action of Crystal Dynamics' impending downloadable Tomb Raider spin-off.
