Killzone 3's latest trailer for its campaign mode reveals that the game's two primary Helghastian masterminds are being voiced by veteran actors Malcom McDowell and Ray Winstone.
Characters from the previous game in the series (Sev, Rico and Narville) also make an appearance in the summer-blockbuster style trailer, along with a new female ISA member named Jammer. McDowell's and Winstone's characters apparently spend much of their time at odds, as they both vie to be Visari's successor and shape planet Helghan's future. Read more »

You and a buddy will be able to play through the Killzone 3 campaign in splitscreen co-operative play since the developers had to support double rendering for the game's stereoscopic 3D support, reveals managing director Herman Hulst in an interview with 1Up.
As for 3D itself, Hulst is adamant that it is an option, not a requirement, for Killzone 3. "3D is a great feature, but it's an option to the game. I don't want people who don't have 3D to have a suboptimal experience," said Hulst. "But we don't want to alienate the core audience. The same with Move. These things are options. They're great options. I think they're here to stay." Read more »

After spending time with the Killzone 3 beta for a number of days, I became obsessed with grinding and crafting my favorite classes. Unlike Killzone 2, the third installment of the FPS from Guerrilla includes five classes--Killzone 2 had seven--with a number of unlockable abilities I actually cared about.
Part of that is the fact that Killzone 3 controls much better than its predecessor. Read more »

Additional layoffs are being reported from Kane & Lynch and Hitman developer IO Interactive to the tune of 30 employees, reports Computerworld (via IGN).
"I can confirm that we have made some internal changes at IO Interactive which has regrettably resulted in the loss of some jobs," a Square Enix representative told Shacknews. "This is a natural part of any studio's existence when you ramp-up and ramp-down on projects to ensure you have the right level of resource and expertise within the studio. We genuinely wish those who have been affected by this, the best of luck for the future." Read more »

It's odd to consider that we're already so deep into this generation of consoles that we're months away from the sequel to the one of the most controversial games on the PlayStation 3. Killzone 2 itself wasn't controversial, but the circus around the game's debut "Is it gameplay or a render?" trailer from E3 2005, was.
Fast forward to 2010, where developer Guerrilla Games have launched a limited beta for Killzone 3, due to hit stores in February 2011. Armed with one of the game's rare beta codes, I set off to play the next installment in--what is widely considered to be--Sony's premier first-person shooter franchise. Read more »

It appears the release of a military grade cat helmet is swayed, solely by the rule of "3." Like Halo 3 before it, Killzone 3 will launch with a special edition that includes a replica Helghast lid, the game's official site revealed.
We know what you're thinking: What horrors can be found deep within the noggin of this evil, alien oppressor? The answer, chillingly, is an art book. Read more »
