Additional layoffs are being reported from Kane & Lynch and Hitman developer IO Interactive to the tune of 30 employees, reports Computerworld (via IGN).
"I can confirm that we have made some internal changes at IO Interactive which has regrettably resulted in the loss of some jobs," a Square Enix representative told Shacknews. "This is a natural part of any studio's existence when you ramp-up and ramp-down on projects to ensure you have the right level of resource and expertise within the studio. We genuinely wish those who have been affected by this, the best of luck for the future." Read more »

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is a rather straightforward third-person shooter, taking players on a linear roller-coaster ride through the seedy underbelly of Shanghai. The game begins with a get-rich-quick scheme gone wrong, and the titular duo of anti-heroes soon find themselves on the run from masses of armed thugs and cops alike as they try to protect the ones they love, exact high-caliber vengeance, and escape Shanghai intact.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, Lara Croft: Guardian of Light, Monday Night Combat, and a QuakeCon report get the party started on the right foot in Whatcha' Been Playin? Your thoughts on maturity in games and balancing difficulty with reward lead off the Warning before the question of whether it's okay to leave games unfinished finally gets discussed. Gamecom announcements alone could fill the Front Page but there's also a quick review of the July NPD sales figures and, of course, Jeff tops it off with a little excitement for Bioshock Infinite.

On August 31, three DLC packs for IO Interactive's Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days will go on sale worldwide across all three platforms.
The three packs are listed, but not detailed, by publisher Square-Enix as including "more 'tools of the trade' and all-new heist locations." Read more »
