Bizarre veterans form Hogrocket

Another small group of former Bizarre Creations employees have founded their own new studio in the aftermath of owner Activision shutting the developer down.

"Micro studio" Hogrocket consists of Geometry Wars creator Stephen Cakebread, Bizarre studio communications manager Ben Ward, and Peter Collier, senior level designer on The Club and James Bond 007: Blood Stone. Contractors are rounding out the development team. Read more »

Bizarre Creations on the Verge of Closing

After searching for a buyer, Activision has issued a recommendation for closure to Bizarre Creations, which the studio reportedly plans to accept. Develop reports that Activision has been searching for a buyer since November, but was unable to find one.

"I want to be clear, our first choice was to try and keep this group together and find a buyer for the studio," said Coddy Johnson, Activision Worldwide Studios' chief operating officer. "This decision comes after a few months of exhausted examination and a number of different options across the board." Johnson says the company is offering displaced employees "counseling, external placement services and external career fairs." Read more »

James Bond 007: Blood Stone 'Single-Player' Review

When last we saw Ian Flemming's enigmatic hero, James Bond, in a video game, Treyarch had adapted his last film adventure into a first and third-person hybrid shooter with lukewarm results. With financial issues casting doubt on a new Bond film along with dust settling on Activision's claim on the license, Bizarre Creations--known for its proclivity toward the racing genre--was tapped to give 007 an original adventure, starring Daniel Craig.

James Bond 007: Blood Stone Officially Announced, Coming this 'Holiday Season'

Activision has finally revealed details on Bond's next adventure. Titled, James Bond 007: Blood Stone, the Bizarre Creations developed third-person shooter (with cover-based shooting, hand-to-hand fighting gameplay) is scheduled to launch this holiday season for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Developer N-Space is creating a Nintendo DS title for the same time frame.
