Injustice: Gods Among Us took the top position on the NPD charts last month. Critically panned Dead Island: Riptide took home the number two spot, proving that people still really like zombies, and that the original game actually managed to convert some fans.
Defiance also managed to crack the charts. The show has been doing well enough to be renewed for a second season, and it appears the game ain't doing so poorly itself. Finally, Lego City Undercover for 3DS manages to make the top 10--although its well-received, bigger-budget Wii U counterpart is missing from the charts.

The arms race for cruder, more violent, and more 'extreme' characters in the '90s may be long over, but the weapons from these old wars have stuck around. Every now and then they'll pop in to be rad and remind us that we live in less gnarly times. That's what Lobo will be up to on May 7, swinging by Injustice: Gods Among US to swing chains, ride a space-motorbike, and gesticulate impolitely with his middle finger.

Injustice: Gods Among Us presented NetherRealm Studios with a unique challenge--step away from the franchise that made you famous and apply that same magic towards the DC Comics pantheon. The makers of Mortal Kombat were more than up to the task, adopting a whole new fighting system, while simultaneously refining several elements first introduced in 2011's MK reboot. The result is a fighter that will resonate with devoted comic book aficionados, as well as diehard fighting game fans.
It would have been easy for NetherRealm to rely on the classic Mortal Kombat formula, however Injustice is structured more to resemble a more traditional fighting game, doing away with MK staples like the run and block buttons. Quick button inputs are still required for combos, but the truly quick player can juggle opponents and continue working them over even after they've been slammed to the ground.

The DC Comics brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us releases next week, so of course it's time for a launch trailer, with all the heroes and villains taking their best shots at each other. Don't be surprised if you can't figure out the good guys from bad guys, because that's the way publisher Warner Bros wants it.

As previously reported, Injustice: Gods Among Us is coming to iTouch devices. Developed by the same team that worked on Batman: Arkham City Lockdown, the iOS version of NetherRealm's brawler is a "completely custom experience" for mobile. Not only does it feature a new control scheme for touch (that doesn't involve a virtual D-Pad, thankfully), but it also features 3v3 tag-team fighting--a feature not found in the original game.

Who would win in a fight? Batman, Wonder Woman, or Lex Luthor? While the answers are available in my fanfic, you can create your own story in the free playable demo of Injustice: Gods Among Us. Available on April 2nd on PlayStation Network and April 3rd on Xbox Live Marketplace, the demo will include these three characters and the "Gotham City" stage.
"Fans can get a taste of the included characters' unique super powers and individual move-sets as they destroy elements of the world and fight through the multi-tiered arena," the press release notes.

Ooh, I don't know, these comic books today, introducing new characters like there's no tomorrow. Why can't we stick with the characters we all know and love, like Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man, Krypto the Superdog, and Matter-Eater Lad. No, no, we need to introduce new people, apparently! So things will be with DC Comics fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us, but the DLC season pass announced today will at least offer four DLC characters for the price of three.
