You may not fully appreciate just how dirty the collapse of civilized society will be. Luckily we have Ubisoft, which has released a new trailer for I Am Alive that shows how even urban areas will become grainy clouds not seen since dustbowl-era Oklahoma. So besides the lack of food and water, and people turning violent without structure of law, you've got that to look forward to.

I Am Alive creative director Stanislas Mettra caused quite a stir when his comments in a recent interview were taken to mean that a PC version of the game was unlikely due to piracy concerns. Mettra says that was not what he meant, and attributes the miscommunication to his not being a native English speaker. He stops short of promising a PC version, though, leaving it at saying that game makers always want to see their games as widely available as possible.

Ubisoft's intriguing downloadable title, I Am Alive, is unlikely to find a PC release. Comments made by the game's creative director, Stanislas Mettra, are likely to continue the growing rift between Ubisoft and the PC gaming community.
According to Mettra, a PC release wouldn't be viable. "It's hard because there’s so much piracy and so few people are paying for PC games that we have to precisely weigh it up against the cost of making it," he said.

Ubisoft Shanghai reportedly "started from scratch" when it took over as developer of I Am Alive, scrapping "much" of developer Darkwork's work on the title.
"We started from scratch, but with the same pitch," Ubisoft Shanghai's Aurelian Palasse said, "I don't want to take the point of view that our game's better [than Darkworks'] - but first of all it was a CG, so everything was possible, and it wasn't real gameplay. But we liked the pitch, and we liked the way it felt."

Remember I Am Alive? The title was teased three years ago, but since that initial reveal we haven't heard much regarding the project. Ubisoft assured us it was still an active project as of May, and we saw a leaked teaser last month, but now we're getting more details thanks to the Electronic Software Ratings Board (ESRB). A new content summary from the board shares details on the game.

The status of the ironically named I Am Alive has been shrouded in mystery for a long time now. Last we heard of the game, Ubisoft said that it wasn't canceled, but there have been no significant updates since the title's unveiling over three years ago.
Internet sleuth supererogatory discovered some never-before-seen footage of the game, which gives us a glimpse at what to expect if the game ever does come out.

When Ubisoft announced its less-than-stellar financial results last night, it also terminated unnamed projects as part of a restructuring for the coming year. We feared this might mean the end for games we haven't heard from in a while, like I Am Alive and Beyond Good & Evil 2. Apparently, not to worry.
