THQ Delays Homefront Until March 2011

THQ has delayed Homefront, its Kaos Studios developed FPS, until March 2011, reports Eurogamer.

This comes after the publisher delayed Red Faction: Armageddon, originally planned for a March 2011 release, back two months into May. Read more »

Homefront PC Port Being Handled by Digital Extremes; Dedicated Servers Promised

THQ has announced that PC version of its upcoming shooter Homefront will be ported by Digital Extremes (Dark Sector, BioShock 2 multiplayer), while primary developer Kaos Studios focuses on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game.

For the PC version, THQ is promising "dedicated servers and enjoy additional community features including clan support," which according to THQ executive producer Frank De Lise, "are becoming increasingly rare" and that "the core PC first-person-shooter fan will really appreciate these features." THQ Already Planning Homefront: London

In an interview with CVG, THQ VP of core games revealed that the company has plans to take the Homefront franchise to London at some point after the 2011 release of the first game, which takes place in the war-ravaged USA following a North Korean attack and occupation.

"We've created this massive world of 2027. And it's global," said Bilson. "We haven't got there yet but you're going to see Homefront: London later on in the franchise. This is not just a game in the US." This is not an announcement of a sequel and it is safe to assume that any further games in the franchise depend on the sales of the first. Read more »

Homefront E3 Trailer: War in Slow-Motion

As publisher THQ has already shown how Korea came to invade the USA in Kaos Studios' near-future shooter Homefront, now it's giving a look at the slow-motion in-game carnage that ensued when American insurgents refused to surrender.

While a release date has yet to be given for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 shooter, it is currently scheduled to arrive March 31, 2011, at the very latest. Read more »

Red Faction 4 Bumped Up, Saints Row 3 Delayed as THQ Revises Release Schedule

Publisher THQ has provided an updated glimpse of its release schedule across the next two years, revealing new release dates for some previously announced sequels.

In particular, the latest Red Faction and Saints Row have swapped released windows--destruction-centric shooter Red Faction 4 is now due before April 2011, while the open-world gangbuster Saints Row 3 is due to arrive before April 2012. Read more »

Homefront Interview: SKUs, Learning from Old Wars and More with Kaos' Brian Holinka

When we previewed Homefront's single-player mode in November, there were more than a few question marks hovering over the heads of hardcore Shackers. Of course, the biggest mystery is the game's PC version. With Kaos Studios developing the game on consoles, Canadian developer Digital Extremes was tapped to handle the game's release on PC.

Homefront publisher THQ is already planning a sequel to Kaos' shooter as well as downloadable content continuing the plot--before the original even has a release date.

The game--scripted by Red Dawn creator John Milius--will only tell part of a larger tale of North Korea's near-future invasion of the USA, THQ Core Games executive VP Danny Bilson said in an investor presentation attended by GameSpot, which will be expanded through an online promotional campaign and downloadable content. THQ today announced Homefront, a military first-person shooter centered around a North Korean occupation of America.
