Oculus Rift VR to launch with playable Hawken

The free-to-play mech combat game Hawken and the virtual reality headset Oculus Rift have both caught some attention among the core games crowd, so it only makes sense that the two would join up. Developer Adhesive Games announced today that Hawken will be available to play using Oculus Rift once it launches.

Hawken live action series to release in 2013

Free-to-play mech game Hawken is getting a live action adaptation. Starring Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class), the series is in development by Warner Premiere and is set to premiere in 2013.

According to early details from TheWrap, the story follows "two young pilots from separate clans pitted against one another after a devastating virus has covered most of the heavily industrialized planet surface in toxic crystal."

Hawken launching as free-to-play in December

Stylish indie stompy robot FPS Hawken is locking onto a December 12 launch on PC under a free-to-play model (12-12-12, snazzily). Developer Adhesive Games also announced that beta testing signups are now open, if you fancy giving it a go before then.

Indie developer Adhesive Games made a bit of a splash with the first teaser trailer for Hawken, a multi-player mech combat game set in the ruins of a devastated futuristic metropolis. The game is still very much "in development," but the team has released a new trailer comprised of in-game footage captured "mostly during team deathmatch matches."

There's little better in life than multiplayer mech battles and nowhere better to fight them than Ghost in the Shell-ish futuristic cityscapes, which makes Indie developer Adhesive Games' announcement (via Rock, Paper, Shotgun) of mech combat FPS Hawken jolly exciting.
