It's that time of year again: the PlayStation Network "Gamers' Choice Awards" are opening tomorrow, letting your votes determine which games will get deep discounts. The nominees were announced today, across the 4 categories from last year and six new categories.

Microsoft has announced this week's Xbox Live discount deals, all centered around a mutant theme. The sale ends July 4, so you can ring in Independence Day with monsters and martial arts reptiles, just like the founding fathers intended. It's in the Constitution somewhere, look it up.
Each of the titles is 50% off, but the prices vary. The sale on Turtles in Time Re-shelled supposedly lasts through July 4, but previous reports claim that an expiring license means the game will be pulled on June 30. If you're interested in "kicking some shell," you might want to jump on that discount toot sweet. Read more »

Xbox Live director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has revealed the dates and prices for the upcoming XBLA "House Party" promotion, which kicks off next week with Hard Corps: Uprising.
On February 23 the addictive, casual title Bejeweled Blitz Live arrives for 800MS Points ($10); March 2 brings Beyond Good & Evil in remastered high-def form for a surprising 800MS Points ($10); Torchlight finally hacks (and slashes) its way on the Xbox Live Arcade on March 9 for 1200MS Points ($15); and the Avatar-starring Full House Poker comes in at 800MS Points on March 16. As you may have heard, Microsoft is set to launch a new digital download-focused promotion with the Xbox Live Arcade "House Party" next month. Leading the charge is Konami's Hard Corps: Uprising, a title crafted by Guilty Gear and BlazBlue developer Arc System Works.
Konami revealed that when Hard Corps: Uprising launches on February 16, it will carry a price-tag of 1200MS Points ($15). The game is also slated for release on the PlayStation Network at some point; however, it has previously been noted that Microsoft requires a window of exclusivity for games released during heavily publicized XBLA-based promotions--specifically the Summer of Arcade. An Xbox Live Arcade release of the splendid Torchlight and the opportunity to hold eerie chat shows with your friends Live Avatars via Kinect are amongst the goodies revealed yesterday by Microsoft at the ongoing 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show.
Torchlight will arrive as part of Microsoft's 'House Party' event on Xbox Live Arcade, which will see five big releases over five weeks. The others will be Ubisoft's revamped Beyond Good & Evil HD, Contra prequel Hard Corps: Uprising, Microsoft's Full House Poker and PopCap's Bejeweled Blitz Live. A spiritual sequel to Konami's 1994 run-and-gun shooter Contra: Hard Corps is being developed by Guilty Gear and BlazBlue maker Arc System Works, IGN has revealed.
Coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in downloadable form, the action game--dubbed Hard Corps, Uprising-- is described by Konami as an "homage to legacy Konami run-and-gun platformers." Read more »
