Front Mission Evolved DLC Coming Oct. 28; 'Weapon Pack 1' Available for Free

Square Enix plans to offer four DLC packages to Front Mission Evolved players later this week, two of which offer players new weapons and two more with new "Wanzers" (a.k.a. Mechas). Originally each pack was going to be offered at a premium price; however, Square Enix is now giving the first weapon package away for free.

Announced on the official Japanese website for Front Mission Evolved--as spotted by Siliconera--the free weapon pack includes the "Darkhog" machine gun, "Blackstone" shotgun, and the "Sieger" rifle. The second (premium) weapon pack adds a bazooka, rocket launcher, and missile launcher to the game. Read more »

Front Mission Evolved Review

A series of games stretching back to 1995, when the first game released for Super Famicon in Japan, established Front Mission as an iconic strategy game franchise. In a style similar to Square's role-playing games, they combined turn-based tactical combat with epic stories told through increasingly cinematic cutscenes as console technology advanced. Front Mission Evolved dispenses with the tactical combat part and instead of instead of watching the action in a movie has players piloting their giant walking mech--called wanzers--first-hand in a third-person action game.

Front Mission Evolved Release Delayed Again, Now Launching September 28 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3

Square Enix has revealed that the "wanzers" in its upcoming action title Front Mission Evolved will be stuck in the shop for a little longer as the title has been delayed again. Originally scheduled for a Spring 2010 release before being recently delayed to September 14, Front Mission Evolved is now slated for release on September 28 on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Front Mission: Evolved Dev Diary Discusses the Fine Art of Mech Fighting

The latest dev diary for the upcoming third-person action title from Square Enix Front Mission Evolved showcases some of the combat players will engage in when the game launches this fall.We don't want to ruin the surprise for you but the video features some steamy robot-on-robot action. Square Unveils New Parasite Eve, Kingdom Hearts Alongside Entire E3 2010 Lineup

A few surprises were tucked away within Square Enix's "E3 2010 Lineup," with the publisher officially announcing that The 3rd Birthday and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded will be on display--meaning the pair will be released in North America on dates to-be-determined.

Front Mission Evolved Delayed to September

Previously due during the vague "Spring 2010" timeframe, Double Helix's mech-tastic action game Front Mission Evolved will now arrive at North American retailers in PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 form on September 14, 2010.

Alongside the release date, publisher Square Enix offered up a new trailer and several new screenshots, plus word that the PC edition will be playable in stereoscopic 3D. Read more »
