The launch trailer for Vicarious Visions' Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits--the studio's third Nintendo DS Guitar Hero entry in under a year--may not compare to the High School Musical-like and How I Met Your Mother-esque trailers for the previous two games, but it's got something they didn't: extreme closeups of well-manicured nails.
Just look at those cuticles! The smooth and well-defined nail tips! I bet those things wouldn't even scratch a baby. Go ahead, look at your own wretched paws and lament the times when you dared dream of a hand modeling career. Packing 28 songs, but sadly lacking any sort of nail care pack-in, Modern Hits ships off the retailers today. Read more »

Vicarious Visions' third Guitar Hero release for the Nintendo DS, Modern Hits, will arrive on June 9, publisher Activision confirmed today alongside the full list of included tunes.
As with the first Guitar Hero On Tour, which arrived on June 22 2008, and the November-released sequel Decades, Modern Hits will make use of the Guitar Grip add-on that plugs into the DS's GBA slot--something the new DSi model lacks. Read more »

Activision today formally announced Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits (DS), set for release this June.
The handheld game includes 28 master tracks from artists such as Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Tenacious D, The Strokes and Weezer. Sum 41's "Still Waiting," Franz Ferdinand's "The Fallen," and Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer" were previously revealed by the ESRB. Read more »

During a conference call today, Activision confirmed three new Guitar Hero games, including a greatest hits compilation, a new DS game, and a "major restage."
Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits will appear on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii, bringing full-band versions of major songs that have appeared in past guitar-only iterations. Greatest Hits marks the first major Guitar Hero title to not appear on the PlayStation 2. Read more »

The Entertainment Software Rating Board has struck again, leaking the first concrete information of the recently-trademarked Guitar Hero Modern Hits via its website.
In development for the Nintendo DS, Modern Hits will include Sum 41's "Still Waiting," Franz Ferdinand's "The Fallen," and Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer," going by the ESRB's rating page and the lyrics contained in the summary. Read more »

Following Activision's plans to triple the amount of yearly Guitar Hero releases by 2012, the publisher has filed a trademark for the phrase "Guitar Hero Modern Hits."
Few details are known, though the phrasing seems to imply that the game will feature contemporary artists. The details of the application confirms that the phrase applies to "computer game software and related instruction manual sold together" and a "video game comprised of a cartridge or DVD sold as a unit with a video game controller."
