The Walking Dead was the big winner at the 2012 VGAs tonight, taking home five awards for Game of the Year, Best Downloadable Game, Best Performance by a Human Female for Clementine, Best Adapted Video Game, and Best Studio for developer Telltale Games. Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2 took home Best Shooter, Best Multiplayer, Best Performance by a Human Male for Handsome Jack, and the fan-voted Character of the Year for Claptrap. Journey took home three awards for developer thatgamecompany, including Best PS3 Game, Best Original Score and Best Independent Game.

Rockstar's been mum on the possibility of Grand Theft Auto 5 heading to PC, and fans of the platform are none-too-happy about it. The complaints have taken the form of an online petition, and it's gaining momentum.

A new installment of the Grand Theft Auto series always seems to get the industry buzzing, and many of us here at Shacknews couldn't be more excited for the series fifth numbered installment. If you're like us, you've already watched Grand Theft Auto 5's second trailer until it's seared into your brain, but don't let that stop you from taking one more gander. This time out, Shacknews Daily's Ryan Calavano and I sit down to dissect some of the trailer's finer points, similar to the breakdown of the first trailer when it was released. As residents of Los Angeles, we're both ridiculously excited to wreak havoc in a satirical version of our native city when the game comes out this spring.

Ooh, aah, Grand Theft Auto 5, how awfully exciting. Last week brought a shiny new trailer, more screenshots and a flood of new details but, sadly, no new word on release platforms beyond Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Though the series' core games have always hit PC, it seems this is still up in the air for 5, or at least that's the official marketing message for now.

Grand Theft Auto 5 appears to be squeezing the last bits of juice out of the current hardware generation. But why focus squarely on aging consoles when another one is just around the corner? Rockstar writer Dan Houser explained that the studio is most comfortable with late-generation hardware.

On top of the new trailer that Rockstar just released for Grand Theft Auto 5, we have three new screenshots showing police chases, a skyline view of Los Santos and a nice little boardwalk scene. Granted you'll probably get more of a thrill from the trailer, but these images make some nice postcards.

Rockstar is releasing a few tidbits and screenshots at a time to tease the game until its spring 2013 release, but today one of the larger pieces of promotion hit with a thud. Grand Theft Auto 5 lets you play as three different characters. While Rockstar faced some design challenges implementing the feature, producer Leslie Benzies says that it will make the game far more convenient for players.

Rockstar is releasing a new trailer on Wednesday for the Grand Theft Auto 5, but we know you are having trouble waiting that long, so we have 20 new screens for the game showing off everything from fighter jets to high flying gun battles to speeding sports cars.

Now that Game Informer's Grand Theft Auto 5 cover story has been released into the wild, we've found that the game is massive, and there are three playable characters in the game. But Rockstar creative VP Dan Houser has let slip another juicy tidbit: One of those characters is the game's main bad guy.

Rockstar wasn't kidding when it said Grand Theft Auto 5's Los Santos will be the biggest world they've created in a game. In fact, according to the just-released Game Informer cover story, the world is bigger than Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto 4... combined.

Rockstar Games has officially kicked off pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 5, giving retailers plenty of time to enjoy the $5 deposit you'll be giving them.

Grand Theft Auto 5 has gotten a release window of spring 2013, and pre-orders will start next Monday. And like any big-budget release, Rockstar is offering some bits of swag in exchange for your promise to buy the game. Apparently early pre-orders will get photo viewer keychains.
