There is "no truth" to the recent reports that a full Grand Theft Auto sequel could be released by late 2009, series developer and publisher Rockstar told Kotaku.
The rumor first popped up in gaming magazine Game Informer, which claimed that the alleged sequel would be a full retail game--not just a collection of DLC--and could sport a subtitle, such as Grand Theft Auto: Tokyo, instead of jumping to Grand Theft Auto 5. Read more »

File this one under "unlikely," but Game Informer is apparently reporting in its latest issue that a full Grand Theft Auto sequel could be released by late 2009.

Publisher Take-Two has announced a new long-term deal with key members of Rockstar Games, ensuring that the talent behind the Grand Theft Auto IV developer won't be going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
The deal will see Rockstar founders Sam and Dan Houser and other important members of the Rockstar team staying on to develop games for Take-Two through January 31, 2012.

Publisher Rockstar has released more media of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, the first of the two Xbox 360-exclusive downloadable episodes for GTA4.
Requiring a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV to play, The Lost and Damned will arrive on February 17, with retailer GameStop indicating that it will run 1600 MS Points ($20). Read more »

Further addressing the problems that surfaced after Grand Theft Auto IV hit PC last week, developer and publisher Rockstar has completed work on the first patch.
"We are working on making a patch available in the next few days," the studio posted on fansite GTAForums. "Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows - Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval." Read more »

Following reports of game-breaking problems with the recently-released PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV, publisher Rockstar has issued a statement, acknowledging that it is "aware that a small number of fans are having problems running GTA IV."
"We would like to assure them we are working to help solve these as quickly as possible," the studio told Voodoo Extreme. Rockstar suggests having issues contact local technical support--the number is in the game's manual--as well as check out the Rockstar Games Support website, which is "regularly updated." Read more »

Rockstar's release of Grand Theft Auto 4 on the PC is turning into a headache for some consumers, with many players reporting errors ranging from missing textures to show-stopping crashes.

Retailer GameStop has today begun selling redeemable tokens for Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and Damned, the upcoming downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV.
The DLC is priced at $19.99, according to the product listing. The code can be redeemed for the content when Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and Damned is released on February 17. Read more »

The December 2-due PC release of Grand Theft Auto IV will utilize the oft-criticized SecuROM copy protection, publisher Rockstar has confirmed, though some controversial SecuROM features, such as install limits, will not be utilized.
"SecuROM is the most effective form of disc based copy protection and allows us to manage authenticity on a global level for Grand Theft Auto IV," IGN was told. Read more »

The PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV doubles the 16-person multiplayer limit of the console versions and allows 32 players to play online together, Rockstar has confirmed.
That doubling is the extent of the promised "newly expanded multiplayer," according to IGN. The site noted that the PC edition packs all of the same multiplayer modes as the previously-released PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 iterations, with the higher player count of certain modes, such as GTA Race and Team Deathmatch, being the only difference. Valve has announced that the PC port of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 4 is now available for pre-order on the Steam digital distribution service.
Those who buy the game ahead of time on Steam will receive the full PC version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as a pre-order bonus.

The Chicago Transit Authority will reinstate the Grand Theft Auto 4 ads that it pulled from Chicago buses back in the spring, but after a short run the CTA will no longer accept ads for M-rated games.
A settlement was reached only recently after publisher Take-Two sued the CTA for breach of contract over the incident before the game was released in April, reports Chicago Breaking News as noticed by GamePolitics. Read more »
