"You look at any screenshot of Brink, you know it's Brink," creative director Richard Ham enthuses in a new developer diary focusing on the attractive exaggerated art style of Splash Damage's shooter. "It can't be mistaken for anything else."

In case you were wondering how excited the developers of Brink are for their upcoming shooter to hit the market, the answer is "lots."
In the third developer diary for the upcoming shooter, the team at Splash Damage discuss how Brink will finally blur the lines between online gaming and offline gaming. This will be done, they explain, by having one character that carries over through both modes of play. Read more »

This weekend gets confirmed with a powerful show that rocks from start to finish. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, Lara Croft: Guardian of Light, Monday Night Combat, and a QuakeCon report get the party started on the right foot in Whatcha' Been Playin? Your thoughts on maturity in games and balancing difficulty with reward lead off the Warning before the question of whether it's okay to leave games unfinished finally gets discussed. Gamecom announcements alone could fill the Front Page but there's also a quick review of the July NPD sales figures and, of course, Jeff tops it off with a little excitement for Bioshock Infinite.

Part two of our massive E3 2010 wrap up picks up where last week left off with a plethora of games that would satisfy even El Guapo. So naturally it begins with guns, and lots of them in what we're dubbing E3 shooterpalooza. Headliners for the segment include Rage, Halo: Reach, Bulletstorm, Brink, Deus Ex, Gears of War 3, FEAR 3, and more. But it's not all bullet-time either; once the clip is empty it's on to Epic Mickey, Mortal Kombat, Lord of the Rings: War in the North, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, True Crime, Dead Space 2, and more. Plus we've got your response to our love for Rock Band and what to do with motion controls. We're getting back to the regular flow next week so be sure to come by Shacknews and get in the show thread.
