Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime Emerging This March

Atari's new focus on online and downloadable products will roll directly into ghostbustin' territory soon, as the publisher has announced the upcoming title Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime will arrive in late March.

The announcement was made via the company's official Twitter page. Atari notes the game will arrive on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network on March 23. Since that specific day is a Wednesday, the PSN version will presumably launch the day before (Tuesday, March 22) along with the platform's regular content schedule. The PC version was not mentioned. PlayStation Store Update Adds Angry Birds, MicroBot, Tetris and More

It's a good week for addictive puzzlers in the PlayStation Store, as yesterday's weekly refresh of the digital shop added shiny new versions of block-based classic Tetris and immensely popular fling 'em up Angry Birds for Sony's game-o-trons.

The update also saw the launch of Fantastic Voyage-ish shooter MicroBot, a handful of demos and the regulation helping of downloadable content. Swing 'em up Bionic Commando Rearmed is being offered for $4.99, on sale down from $13.99. Read more »

Best of 2010 Awards: Indie

Indie: LIMBO

2010 was a fantastic year for independently developed games, with many of the category's front-runners providing some of year's most memorable experiences. The black and white, melancholic platformer LIMBO has been lazily described as "the Braid of 2010," but beyond the fact that both are puzzle-platformers, they're really different beasts. Whereas Braid engaged players with colorful worlds and an intellectually engaging and text-driven story, LIMBO engages the player on a more visceral level, burying its incredibly subtle (but creepy) meta-story underneath minute-to-minute action that is equal parts foreboding, pulse-pounding, and head-scratching. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime Bustin' Out Next Spring on PC, XBLA and PSN

After shifting its entire development focus following a steep decline in revenue in the first half of the fiscal year, we wondered what Atari might do with its Ghostbusters license. Based on Atari's new direction there were two options: Online MMO or a budget and time friendly downloadable product. Atari opted for the latter.

According to USA Today, bustin' will continue in Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. The top-down action title features four-player online and offline co-op, the ability to drive the Ecto-3 at some point, and puts players back in the shoes of "the rookie" from Terminal Reality and Red Fly Studios' 2009 Ghostbusters title.
