[Update 12:30pm - XdM] An anonymous source at Sony Online Entertainment tells Shacknews that rumors of layoffs and the cancellation of The Agency are accurate. According to the source, a number of the layoffs also reduced the size of the EverQuest 2 team and although the Planetside Next team also took some layoffs, the project is alive and well. Read more »

Sony's free-to-play, micro-transaction supported online game FreeRealms is now available for the Mac. The port has been handled by TransGaming and will utilize the same servers as the PC version.
Along with the announcement of the new Mac version, Sony revealed that the PC version had reached 14 million registered users. A PS3 version of the game is still planned, but no release date has been discussed. Read more »

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that it's partnering with TransGaming to bring its free-to-play MMO, Free Realms, to Mac this fall. According to SOE, the PC version of Free Realms is already home to more than 14 million registered players.

Sony Online has now launched Free Realms on PC, a free-to-play MMO bristling with surprisingly fun minigames, aimed at teenagers--oldies are still welcome, of course.
Free Realms's minigames are divided by profession--brawler, adventurer, chef, ninja, pet trainer, postman and so on--which can be focused on or switched between at will.

Along with DC Universe Online and The Agency, Sony Online Entertainment has revealed plans for its third PlayStation 3 MMO, FreeRealms.
Previously announced and also in development for the PC, FreeRealms is described as an "all new social networking service and massively multiplayer game in one." Read more »
