Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the annual event previously known as "Fan Faire" has been redubbed "SOE Live." Plans are underway for this year's event, which will take place October 18-21 at Bally's in Las Vegas. As usual, it will cover the gamut of SOE's various offerings, including DC Universe Online, EverQuest II, Free Realms, Magic: The Gathering - Tactics, and more.

MMO magpie Sony Online Entertainment has relaunched its 'Station Access' subscription under the new name 'All Access' and knocked $10 off the monthly price. It includes membership to ten SOE games, four of them free-to-play, for only $5 per month more than a single subscription.

An All Access sub will let you play DC Universe Online on PC, EverQuest, EverQuest II, EverQuest Online Adventures for PlayStation 2, PlanetSide, and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes with the single subscription fee. Read more »

[Update 12:30pm - XdM] An anonymous source at Sony Online Entertainment tells Shacknews that rumors of layoffs and the cancellation of The Agency are accurate. According to the source, a number of the layoffs also reduced the size of the EverQuest 2 team and although the Planetside Next team also took some layoffs, the project is alive and well. It's that time once again for the PlayStation Store Update, which this week means a few new games with a noticeable old-school slant.

The side-scrolling action game Moon Diver ($14.99) is available if you're in the mood for a Strider-like slasher. If guns are more your retro speed, Rush'N Attack Ex-Patriot ($9.99) is up too. Sony's free-to-play, micro-transaction supported online game FreeRealms is now available for the Mac. The port has been handled by TransGaming and will utilize the same servers as the PC version.

Along with the announcement of the new Mac version, Sony revealed that the PC version had reached 14 million registered users. A PS3 version of the game is still planned, but no release date has been discussed. Read more »

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that it's partnering with TransGaming to bring its free-to-play MMO, Free Realms, to Mac this fall. According to SOE, the PC version of Free Realms is already home to more than 14 million registered players.

Sony Online has now launched Free Realms on PC, a free-to-play MMO bristling with surprisingly fun minigames, aimed at teenagers--oldies are still welcome, of course.

Free Realms's minigames are divided by profession--brawler, adventurer, chef, ninja, pet trainer, postman and so on--which can be focused on or switched between at will.

Along with DC Universe Online and The Agency, Sony Online Entertainment has revealed plans for its third PlayStation 3 MMO, FreeRealms.

Previously announced and also in development for the PC, FreeRealms is described as an "all new social networking service and massively multiplayer game in one." Read more »
