Future Fire Emblems likely to include Casual mode

The Fire Emblem series is notoriously difficult, in large part due to its permanent death. Fire Emblem: Awakening was a kinder, gentler game with the addition of Casual Mode that simply tags defeated characters out for the duration of a battle. Apparently it was a big hit among the staff, and they say future games are likely to include it as well.

Fire Emblem: Awakening review: burning love

Despite a ten-year history in the states and more than double that time in Japan, Fire Emblem has been one of Nintendo's under-the-radar franchises. It's enjoyed its releases and Smash Bros cameos with a quiet but devoted base of support. Fire Emblem: Awakening is coming relatively early in the 3DS lifespan, before many of the company's heavy-hitter franchises make their debut. This is well-timed, as it allows Fire Emblem to step out of the shadow cast by other franchises and prove itself. To that end, Awakening is a near-perfect encapsulation of the series' unique charms.

Fire Emblem 3DS announced for North America

Nintendo's latest Fire Emblem game is coming to the States. Fire Emblem: Kakusei (Awakening) is a tactical RPG released in Japan just a few months ago. The gameplay retains many of the elements featured in previous entries in the franchise. The character creator has been greatly expanded, and players can also have their heroes pair up and marry other characters.
