Final Fantasy XIII Tips & Tricks

Mission Number 59 Guide
Stone Location: Archylte Steppe: Eastern Tors Mission Location: Sulyya Springs:Subterranean Lake Enemies: Zirnitra x 1 Creatoraptor x 3 Start the battle off in Sentinel / Medic / Commando formation. Switch your Commando to Ravager and back in order to stagger the enemy. It's slow, but it will bring him down eventually.
-
Mission Number 55 Guide
Stone Location: Oerba:Deserted Schoollhouse (Roof) Mission: Location: Archylte Steppe:Aggra's Pasture Enemies: Neochu x 1 Picochu x 5 You'll need to cast weak on this guy as soon as possible. He'll throw out smaller enemies at you once you get his health to half. When this happens take them out as soon as possible. Once his health is low, hit him with a lucky breaker and he should be near death.
-
Mission Number 54 Guide
Stone Location: Archylte Steppe:Northern Highplain Mission Location: Archylte SteppeEastern Tors Enemies: Gigantuar The Gigantuar's 10,000 Needles attack will deliver 10,000 damage your luck party and impart Pain and Fog. Make sure you have a Sentinel ready at almost all times. Buff your party and have a Medic on hand. He takes a while, but as long as 10,000 Needles doesn't catch you by surprise, you should be ok.
-
Mission Number 50 Guide
Stone Location: Faultwarrens:Neired Path Mission Location: Faultwarrens:Titan's Throne Enemies: Humbaba x 1 Not only does this guy have high HP, he is impossible to stagger. He has resistance to both physical and magical damage, and is therefore incredibly hard to take down. Use deprotect and slow on him from the start of the battle. This will at least lower his resistances a little bit. You have to defeat him in twenty minutes. If you can't do that, he will cast death on your entire party, bringing a swift end to a drawn out battle. Make sure your party is buffed before you bring his health below eighty percent. Once his health dips below that magic number, he'll unleash a devastating attack and you have to be prepared. When you cut his health in half he will buff himself and / or deal out a brutal attack that will deal 20,000 damage. In order to protect yourself, make sure your party leader is a Sentinel when his health gets near the halfway mark. It's a slow process, but you should be able to take him down with enough time.

Mission Number 45 Guide
Stone Location: Faultwarrens: Gaian Path Mission Location: Faultwarrens: Titan's Throne Enemies: Neochu x 1 You'll need to cast weak on this guy as soon as possible. He'll throw out smaller enemies at you once you get his health to half. When this happens take them out as soon as possible. Once his health is low, hit him with a lucky breaker and he should be near death.

Easter Egg: Secret Animation
If you turn the left stick in a slow circle on the field screen, the character that you are controlling will do a secret animation. For example, Hope will shake his head and hands.
-
Snow's "Perfect Defense" State
With an advanced party, it is possible for Snow to enter a "perfect defense" state. Equip him with his Winged Saint weapon or save the queen upgrade (for the improved Guard II ability); your three active party members must have reached Role level 5 as Sentinels. Paradigm Shift to Tortoise (SEN + SEN + SEN), and have snow preform Steelguard or Mediguard. Any attack aimed at him during that time will inflict only 1% damage or less.

Easy CP, Gil, and experience items
Use the following trick to get easy CP, Gil, and experience items. Once you are back inside the airship and get to the area shown below, save at the first save point. Then, run along the route until you reach save point 2. Save there, then run back. Repeat this multiple times to get Credit Chips, Incentive Chips, and Perfect Conductors (the highest experience item at that point in the game). You will also get approximately 3,000 to 5,000 CP for each run through.

Easy CP
When you are at Hope's home towards the end of Chapter 7, you will encounter an attack from groups of three PSICOM enemies. There is a save point, and a group of enemies to the left and right side of you. Defeat one set of enemies, and then fight the next set. Once you have defeated all of them, run around the room to the other side, and the enemies will respawn. You can repeat this as many times as desired and complete a battle each time in under one minute by simply using the Relentless Assault and Diversity combinations. After each battle, you will get 160 CP, as well as an item occasionally from the spoil that remains. This trick allows you to easily gain enough CP to use later on if you have already maxed out your current level, or you can max out your current level in the Crystalium system. When you first arrive in Gran Pulse (Disc 3), you will be told to go to Vanille's village. On the way to the village you must go through Taejin Tower. Do the following steps there to get easy CP: 1. Defeat the Boss at the apex of Taejin Tower. 2. Take the elevator down to level four, and then the other elevator (the first room on the left when exiting the elevator) up to level five. 3. You will see a mission statue directly in front of the elevator (Mission 24) 4. Select the statue, and re-accept the mission. The target will spawn in the same room. 5. Kill the group of three that spawn to get 6,000 CP and an item that sells for 6,000 Gil. 6. Go back to the statue, re-accept the mission again, and complete it. Repeat these steps as many times as desired. You can use the following tactic to kill them in approximately 34 seconds with tier two weapons. Have your party consist of Snow, Vanille (use her tier two Marlboros Wand), and Lightning. Tactics: Default - Ravager, Ravager, Ravager - Other - Commando, Saboteur, Commando. Start with the default Ravager x3 on the main target (in the middle; should be auto targeted) until he is staggerin

CP Farming in Chapters 8 and 9
Here are a couple really solid CP grinding areas in Chapters 8 and 9. The first spot is right after the attack on Hope's home in Parumpolum in Chapter 8. There are two sets of soldiers who will keep respawning inside the house endlessly. All you have to do is run down the halls a bit and they come right back and they will be there again. Defeating them yields a good amount of CP, and they drop incentive chips which you can sell for 2,500 and buy upgrade parts for your weapons. I maxed out all my players and upgraded Lightning's weapon from level 16-22 in only 40 minutes of fighting. The second spot when you're going to rescue Sazh and Vanille in Chapter 9. After you finish the outside fighting portion on the flagship you head inside; in there you get a "green alert" warning the enemy to your presence. Instead of proceeding further, go back outside and you will see that the enemies have respawned. In fact, just right outside the door you will get into a battle with five enemies which nets you over 700 CP each time as well as dropping Silicon Oil plus incentive and credit chips. After each fight, head back inside around two corners to respawn the enemy. Do this as many times as you want and head inside to the save point to sell the chips and upgrade your weapons and you'll get everyone to level 3 of all their roles in no time. I prefer these two places because of the incentive chips.
-
CP Farming in Chapter 5
Right at the clocktower in the park, you'll find a chest with five of those little robots running around it. You can beat them up for 640 cp and loop back to the prior chest area (with one of the monsters) and the group of five will respawn.
-
Easter Egg: Hoppin' Mad
Whenever you have control of your character outside of battle, move the analog stick left and right quickly. Do this enough (6 or so times) and your character will come to an abrupt stop and emote -- expressing anger or fatigue.
-
Super Weapon Exploit
Each character has one super weapon that can be obtained by fully upgrading one of his/her stock weapons. Each player has seven stock weapons but the final result after maximum upgrades yields the same super weapon. Upgrading is done through the shop at save points. There are two parts to upgrading: (1) Spamming items which give a low amount of EXP to increase multipliers, and (2) Using items which give a lot of EXP, and that now give even more EXP due to your multiplier, to upgrade your weapon substantially. An efficient way to build the multiplier is to go to the Creature Comforts store and buy Vibrant Ooze. Apply 36 of those to your weapon and you will have a 3x multiplier. Then you can apply Perfect Conductor for 2577 EXP.

Mission Number 62 Guide
Stone Location: Archylte Steppe:Eastern Tors Mission Location: Archylte Steppe:Central Expanse Enemies: Raktavija x 2 If you equip accessories that give you magic defense bonuses and use shell, you should be protected from most of the damage dealt out in this battle. If you can manage to cast weak on the enemy, switch your party to Ravager / Ravager / Ravager and stagger him quickly.
-
Mission Number 63 Guide
Stone Location: Sulyya Springs:Subterranean Lake Mission Location: Sulyya Springs:Subterranean Lake Enemies: Adamantortoise x 1 We hope you don't mind being cheap. The enemy is susceptible to death, cast it on the mark once you've taken out those legs and he'll die...eventually. If you feel that's not fair, be sure to take on this enemy only once you've maxed out everybody's default roles and full upgraded their equipment. Use a Saboteur to weaken the legs. Once the Adamantortoise goes down, debuff and pummel him with as many Ravagers as you can get.

Eidolon Battle Strategy: SHIVA
Character: SNOW Chapter: 03 Strategy: In order to impress Shiva, switch the Paradigm Shift to Sentinel. Have Snow use Steel Guard all the time and wait for the Gestalt Meter to fill up. Dont worry about your health because Striria (Sister of Nix) will heal you.
-
Eidolon Battle Strategy: HECATONCHEIR
Character: Vanille Chapter: 11 Strategy: With only Vanille and Fang fighting this Eidolon Battle, it can be tough. Start off the fight by having Vanille be the Ravanger and Fang be the Sentinel. Keep attacking Hecatoncheir with Vanilles Magic and watch his Chain Gauge goes up. When the HP runs low, change to a Medic Paradigm and have Vanille heal and switch back to the first strategy. Keep on doing this and the Gestalt Meter will go up1.html
-
Eidolon Battle Strategy: ALEXANDER
Character: Hope Chapter: 11 Strategy: Make sure Hope has a lot of HP by this time as he will be the Party leader. Start off the battle with Alexander by shifting to Delta Attack Paradigm. Have Fang be the Sentinel while Hope and Lightning do the attack. When you see the partys HP drop significantly, switch to Combat Clinic Paradigm to do the healing. Keep on doing it this until the Gestalt Meter fills up.
-
Eidolan Battle Strategy: BAHAMUT
Character: Fang Chapter: 10 Strategy: Making a pact with Bahamut is a very challenging one as it attacks rampantly. Focus on the health of your party. I suggest to have someone in your party cast Shell and Protect to lessen the damage that you get from Bahamut. Start off by debuffing Bahamut. Have one of your party be a Sentinel (preferably Fang) and the two becomes a Ravager. Keep on attacking Bahamut until the Gestalt Gault fills up.
-
Eidolon Battle Strategy: BRYNHILDR
Character: SAHZ Chapter: 08 Strategy: Start off by having the characters switch their Paradigm to Saboteur and Synergiest. Have either of the two cast Vigilance and Haste. If the HP runs low on either of the characters, change the Paradigm to War & Peace to have one of the characters use Cura or Cure. The main key to this battle is to chain up the Chain Gauge. Do it by always focusing on Dual Casting Paradigm to have both characters attack with magic (Ravager).
-
Eidolon Battle Strategy: ODIN
Character: LIGHTNING Chapter: 04 Strategy: This is one of the hardest fights you will encounter so far as Odin is fast and deadly. Before entering the battle, make sure that you changed your Battle Speed under Settings to Slow. The key to fill up the Gestalt Meter fast is when Odin sees a lot of healing and chaining up your attacks. Start off with Hope casting Protect and Shell then change the Paradigm Shift to Dual Casting allowing both Lightning and Hope cast magics. When you see one of your characters HP is low, switch to Yin & Yang Paradigm to allow Hope heal Lightning while shes still attacking with a magic.
