Square Enix has yet to officially announce a Western localization for Final Fantasy Type-0, its critically-acclaimed PSP-exclusive action-RPG. Some have questioned if it would ever come stateside, due to the languishing PSP market in the US. Perhaps Square Enix can take a different approach for its Western release? Game director Hajime Tabata recently confirmed that the game is up and running on Sony's next generation portable, the Vita.

With interest for the PSP at an all-time low in the States, Square Enix fans were concerned that Final Fantasy Type-0 would never make it Stateside. The PSP-exclusive action RPG, formerly known as Final Fantasy Agito XIII, performed well enough in Japan to already warrant a sequel, but Square Enix has yet to announce a US release.
The Type-0 "Ultimania Guide," which hit Japanese retail stores today, suggests that it won't be long until a localized version is announced.

While Square Enix has yet to announce plans to bring Final Fantasy Type-0 to the US, the game has been enough of a success in Japan to warrant a sequel. The long-in-development PSP game, formerly known as Final Fantasy Agito XIII, sold nearly 500,000 units in one week across the Pacific, and received a near-perfect score in Famitsu.
With figures like that, it should come as no surprise that Square Enix is already planning a sequel to the game.

Along with the announcement of a new entry to the Fabula Nova Crystallis series today, Square Enix updated us on an existing FNC title that's gone unmentioned by the company. Joystiq reports that Final Fantasy Agito XIII has been renamed Final Fantasy Type-0. Square says the new name distances it from Final Fantasy XIII because it had become much more action-oriented, but it's also undoubtedly to avoid confusion with Final Fantasy XIII-2. Read more »
