Publisher Ubisoft has joined with Adult Swim to promote tomorrow's arrival of Far Cry 2 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In addition to a downloadable tribute album entitled African Swim, the beloved network provided new clips of the open-world shooter.

Ubisoft has released the first screenshots from the Far Cry 2 area of Home, the PlayStation 3's Second Life-ish virtual space and promotional platform.
A promotion for Ubisoft Montreal's sequel to Crytek's breakout open-world shooter, the space looks like it's taken straight from Far Cry 2's African battlegrounds--but with a few chairs thrown in to help the space's feng shui.

Publisher Ubisoft has confirmed that the PC its open-world shooter Far Cry 2, which hits alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions on October 21, will use a slightly different configuration of the SecuROM DRM technology found in Spore and Crysis Warhead.

With just a few days left until Far Cry 2's retail debut on October 21, publisher Ubisoft just announced that the open-world shooter has gone gold and entered manufacturing.
Developed this time around by Ubisoft Montreal--the PC original was crafted by Crytek--Far Cry 2 will hit PS3 and Xbox 360 at $60, with the PC version coming in at $50. Additionally, those that pre-order the PC version through Valve's digital distribution platform Steam will receive $5 off. Read more »

Ubisoft sent along a new trailer for Far Cry 2, in the works at its Montreal studio. Viewers are introduced to the Jackal--the player's primary objective--and all the shady characters one must go through in order to reach him.
In development for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Far Cry 2 puts players in war-torn Africa on October 21.

Hardy LeBel has been around the multiplayer block. Lead designer on the original Halo multiplayer component, LeBel recently joined the team at Ubisoft Montreal to develop an online portion of Far Cry 2.

The star of Far Cry 2 (PC, 360, PS3) multiplayer isn't the modes, or the levels, or even the guns--it's the map editor.
After spending some time manipulating the editor with an Xbox 360 controller, I was very impressed. It is probably the most powerful FPS map editor that an eight-year-old could master in five minutes. Using a radial menu to select major categories--roads, buildings, etc--and sub-menus for smaller categories, I was able to assemble a mish-mash of huts and trees in seconds. Read more »

Ubisoft has released a series of trailers from Far Cry 2, the shooter sequel for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Five videos come together to show one day and one night of in-game time while dispatching roughly 30 bad guys and handing out at least 25 explosions.

Ubisoft Montreal's upcoming open-world shooter Far Cry 2 (PC, 360, PS3) will have a full slate of multiplayer options, but won't come with a demo before or after the game's release.
"Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Diamond... and Uprising" will be available multiplayer modes, according to producer Louis-Pierre Pharand in an interview with EuroGamer. Capture the Diamond is capture-the-flag reworked to honor the game's African setting, whereas Uprising is "a modified version of a VIP [mode]." Read more »

Ubisoft Montreal's open-world shooter sequel Far Cry 2 (PC, PS3, 360) will hit North America on October 21 and Europe on October 24, the company confirmed today.
While Ubisoft only announced the European date this morning, the company has since informed GameSpot of the specific North American release date for the followup to Crytek's 2004 PC shooter Far Cry.

With Ubisoft Montreal's open-world shooter Far Cry 2 due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall, narrative designer Patrick Redding has confirmed that a third Far Cry game is in the "preliminary stages" and will likely share the sequel's African setting.
