Bethesda has channeled all of that in the PAX 08 swag hand-out for Fallout 3: a thick, pulpy booklet full of illustrations and informative blurbs. It's basically Bethesda's take on Black Isle's original concept, and boy, is it awesome. Read more »

I was way off the beaten path this time, on my own out in the cold, dark wasteland. Screw the main quests. Forget the map. The real way to experience the world of a Fallout game is to get lost in it. And the moment I did, I became irreversibly excited for October 28.

Developer Bethesda today announced that its highly anticipated RPG Fallout 3 will hit store shelves on October 28 in North America.
The post-apocalyptic sequel will make it to European shores three days later on October 31. Bethesda noted that the PC version will be available in digital form, though no specific distributors were named.

With the Leipzig Games Convention now underway, developer Bethesda has hopped on the media bandwagon and provided new screenshots of its post-apocalyptic RPG.
Fallout 3 is due out on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall.

Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification have lifted the ban on Bethesda's post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout 3 (PC, PS3, 360) following significant editing and changes to the title's drug references in a revised edition of the game.
According to GameSpot, the title successfully attained a MA-15+ qualification from the board following the submission of a modified version of the title in which "the reward and incentive" for in-game drug use has been reduced significantly. The organization did not specify further what changes were made. Read more »

The words may as well have been coming directly from Bethesda. It felt like the company was challenging me, daring me to write anything negative about their new sequel to Black Isle's classic RPG series. I was very skeptical of whether the company could match the tone and content of the original titles. As good as Bethesda is, the bar was set very high ten years ago. Read more »

Bethesda game director Todd Howard just announced that "substantial" Fallout 3 downloadable content will be released exclusively on Xbox 360 and PC.
Due for release this fall, Fallout 3 will hit PS3 in addition to Xbox 360 and PC.
No further details of the DLC were mentioned.

In-game drug use was the reason behind the OFLC's refusal to rate Fallout 3 (PC, PS3, 360) in Australia, a move that essentially banned the game from sale.
Going by documents acquired by Australian Gamer, the OFLC took issue with the title's "visual representations of drugs and their delivery method [which] bring the 'science-fiction' drugs in line with 'real-world' drugs." Read more »

Bethesda's upcoming post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout 3 (PC, PS3, 360) has been banned from sale in Australia following an RC rating from the Office of Film and Literature Classification, according to a Kotaku report.
Australian law stipulates that any games rated above MA 15+ cannot be sold or demonstrated, effectively banning Fallout 3 from sale in the country. Read more »

Developer Bethesda has released three new screenshots from its post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout 3, detailing the game's combat and skills as well as the Megaton Bar.
Over on the game's official forum, Bethesda employee Todd Howard revealed that the PC edition will not, as past Bethesda games, pack an editor to allow user-created mods. Read more »

Updated: Responding to questions about the Fallout 3 Survival Edition's worldwide availability, Bethesda marketing VP Pete Hines told Shacknews that Amazon will likely not be able to ship the bundle to customers outside of the United States.
"It's ultimately up to Amazon and where they will ship to from Amazon.com vs. Amazon.de or whatever localized URL folks would use," Hines said. Read more »
