EVE Online 'Incursion' Expansion Semi-Delayed, Split Into Three Parts

EVE Online's free expansion 'Incursion,' once due this month, will be split into three parts and released gradually over the next three months, developer CCP has revealed.

CCP explains that while it has committed to releasing two free expansions for the spacefaring MMO each year, "we also have a commitment to make them excellent." To strike a balance between the two commitments, the first two parts will be released this year. Read more »

League of Legends Scores Big in Inaugural Game Developers Choice Online Awards

Riot Games' League of Legends was the star of the first Games Developers Choice Online Awards last night, coming away with five of the nine awards, which were established to reward "innovation and excellence in the art of making online games."

LoL scooped awards in categories from 'Best Online Game Design' to 'Best Online Technology.' Other winners included EVE Online for 'Best Live Game,' MMO juggernaut World of Warcraft for its customer service and NCSoft's Aion for sound. Read more »

EVE Online Expansion 'Incursion' Due in November

PvE play will be the main focus of EVE Online's next free expansion 'Incursion,' announced yesterday by the space MMO's developer CCP and slated to launch this November.

Incursion will bring "escalating attacks" from the techno-zombie NPC faction Sansha's Nation. CCP explains that "Pilots can join public fleets and co-operate to destroy the Sansha incursions and return the universe to normal, receiving wealthy bounties, earning loyalty rewards and high commendation." Named after the popular 'Hulk' mining ship [pictured left], Hulkageddon III will see players hounding expensive mining vessels across CCP's space MMO. Kind benefactors have offered a number of respectable prizes for participants, hoping to beat the last event's record. Steam for Mac Adds Half-Life 2, EVE Online

The Half-Life 2 Collection and EVE Online: Tyrannis represent this week's latest additions to the Steam for Mac digital distribution platform, operator Valve has announced.

The Mac editions of Valve's celebrated shooters Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One and Half-Life 2: Episode Two are now available through the digital distribution platform, while Tyrannis--the lastest update to CCP's space-faring MMO EVE Online--will hit "later today" and marks "Steam's first day-and-date release for the Mac and PC." EVE Online 'Tyrannis' Update Delayed Until Next Week

The launch of EVE Online's next update, titled Tyrannis, and the accompanying "web-based collaboration and networking portal" EVE Gate has been delayed by one week until May 26, developer CCP has announced, to allow more time for polish.

"This will allow the development team to finalize polish on the features and players to have a period of time to study the new gameplay, scan planets for resources, train skills needed for structures and make plans for which planets they want to," CCP states. Read more »

EVE Online Screenshots Show New Features

In preparation of the massive 'Tyrannis' update hitting EVE Online on May 18, developer CCP has released some more screenshots and information on the new features.

As previously reported, 'Tyrannis' will bring two massive changes to the PC MMO in the form of a new web-based community portal, EVE Gate, and the ability to colonize and harvest planets, which will tie into the eventual EVE-set console shooter DUST 514.

EVE Online 'Tyrannis' Update Release Dated By Trailer

EVE Online's update named 'Tyrannis' will be released on May 18, a new trailer for CCP's spacefaring MMO reveals, to add new features including planet harvesting.

EVE Online 'Tyrannis' Update Revealed

As it continues to update and expand the online universe of EVE Online, developer CCP has unveiled the first details on its next major patch.

Dubbed "Tyrannis," the update will allow players to begin harvesting resources from all of the planets in the online universe and is due before the summer solstice on June 21, 2010.

This focus on planets paves the way for the eventual EVE Online-set console shooter DUST 514. That said, planet-centric combat for EVE Online will not arrive with Tyrannis, and is instead slated to arrive in a later expansion at a nebulous "later date." Read more »

EVE Online 'Dominion' Update Gets Details, Trailer

As it continues to tweak and modify the persistent virtual universe of EVE Online, developer CCP has detailed the PC MMO's upcoming "Dominion" update.

Due December 1, the free expansion to the space-faring MMO brings with it sovereignty changes, doomsday device adjustments, improved fleet tools, exploration and PVP tutorials, more faction ships, new planets and starfields, "pirate faction epic arc missions," improved in-game mail, and a "full featured in-game" web browser.
