Europa Universalis IV: Wealth of Nations expansion announced, coming Spring

Paradox Interactive is expanding their most critically acclaimed game yet with a second expansion. Wealth of Nations is the next expansion for Europa Universalis 4, and as its name suggests, it focuses on trade and wealth.

Project lead Thomas Johansson explained that the expansion doesn't change the trading system found in the base game. Instead, "we wanted to create more conflicts and friction," adding "more reasons to go to war over that."

Europa Universalis IV: Conquest of Paradise expansion announced

Paradox's publishing plan is pretty clear by now--release an unapologetically PC-y game, then follow up with oodles of expansions and DLC--so it was never a question of if Europa Universalis IV would get an expansion, but when. December 11 is the answer, when Conquest of Paradise will let you discover, explore, plunder, and murder the New World.

Europa Universalis IV demo out; Crusader Kings save converter priced

Ahead of its launch next Tuesday, Paradox has a released a demo for historical strat-o-rama Europa Universalis IV. In slightly less pleasant news, though, it's announced that the Crusader Kings II save game converter offered as a pre-order bonus will otherwise cost a whopping $10. I'm normally hesitant to recommend pre-ordering but, well, if you like your history hard and heavy, it may save you quite a few dollars here.

We can get so attached to the characters and worlds we create in video games, missing them even when we're done with the game itself. How thoroughly splendid, then, that Paradox has created a tool to convert Crusader Kings II saves into worlds playable in the upcoming Europa Universalis IV.

Europa Universalis 4 coming August 13

Europa Universalis 4 will be available August 13, Paradox Interactive announced today. The strategy-RPG will be available to download on PC, Mac, and Linux, and it will cost $39.99 (or $44.99 for the "Digital Extreme Edition").
