Following the closure of Junction Point, Warren Spector wasn't quite sure what he would do. Though he's said he's "excited for the future," he hasn't given much comment on what he might do next. Even with a little time, though, he's still baffled at the closure, and starting to relax with his time off while he waits for his next project.

The tale of Disney's Epic Mickey 2 doesn't have a happy ending. Warren Spector and Junction Point's platforming sequel fizzled when it launched last year, debuting to mediocre reviews. Oddly, Disney is giving the game another chance--announcing a new port of the months-old game for PS Vita.
Disney announced yesterday that it had closed down its Epic Mickey development house Junction Point Studios. Studio chief Warren Spector had been silent to that point other than a vague post on LinkedIn that he was unemployed. But Spector has finally spoken up via Facebook, saying that he still has plans for the future.
Update: Adds report of Spector leaving Disney.
After last night's speculation, Disney has confirmed today that it has closed Austin-based developer Junction Point Studios, the brainchild of Warren Spector and creator of the Epic Mickey series.
Junction Point, the Texas-based developer of the Epic Mickey franchise, is in trouble. In fact, Warren Spector's studio may be getting shut down entirely.
The PlayStation 3 is getting yet another bundle, this one targeted at younger audiences. A Target-exclusive bundle packages the system and a Move controller along with Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.
The original Epic Mickey fell somewhat short of its promise when it hit Wii in 2010, so how dares the multiplatform sequel Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two fare? You can see for yourself, as a demo is out today for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a few levels for your sampling satisfaction.
Remember when Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two was first announced and the musical numbers in the game were played up, much to the chagrin of developer Warren Spector? Well, publisher Disney Interactive has finally released the opening cinematic sequence that caused Spector to gush about the musical aspects of the game at the preview event.
Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Rabbit will join forces on November 18, Disney Interactive announced today at E3, confirming the console release date for Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. It also blasted out an E3 trailer, with more snippets of their animated animal adventures.
When I previewed Epic Mickey 2 two weeks ago, there was plenty to talk about--cooperative play, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and support for multiple platforms. Developer Warren Spector also gushed about the music and the songs.
Now, he wishes he hadn't gushed so much.
Industry luminary Warren Spector--developer of Deus Ex and, more recently, the upcoming Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two--has weighed in on all of the next-gen console hype and speculation that's been floating around. It appears that Spector views video game technology much like any artist would view his paint, canvass, and brush. Simply having better tools doesn't necessarily make what's produced with those tools better by proxy. That's more of a creative problem.
Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two has added two more platforms to its line-up: the PC and Mac. The console development is split between two teams -- Junction Point on the Wii version, and Blitz Games for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A separate game, Power of Illusion, is coming to the 3DS from developer Dreamrift.
Amid the news of Epic Mickey: The Power of Two for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii, rumors were swirling about another Epic Mickey game on the horizon. Those rumors turned out to be true, with the reveal of Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion for the Nintendo 3DS.
