At a roundtable discussion at E3 2010, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma spilled more details on The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Regarding the game's story, Aonuma said through an interpreter:
Link is from a floating island in the clouds called Sky Loft. Link doesn't think his world is unusual -- it's just where he lives. Then he discovers another land beneath the clouds. The other world is dangerous and ruled by evil. Link is forced to go into that world due to circumstances. He has to travel back and forth between lands. The Skyward Sword is the key. The sword transforms, talks to him, gives him advice, etc. Skyward Sword becomes the Master Sword.

Using the Wiimote, I pulled up a radial menu to switch between weapons. It only took a few tries to get used to the system and after a minute it was a snap switching between Link's various tools of smiting. Read more »
