You can already play Duke Nukem 3D on your PC and Xbox 360, but what if you just really have an itch to shoot pig cops while you ride the bus, and you don't own an iPhone? The gaming industry simply hasn't provided any outlet for this eventuality. Or it hadn't, until today, when the game hit Android devices.

A group of Duke Nukem 3D fans have received the legal go-ahead for their remake of 3D Realms' classic macho shooter in the UDK, Epic's free version of Unreal Engine 3.
The plan is for the project dubbed Duke Nukem: Next-Gen to offer a shiny modern version of the shooter's three singleplayer episodes as well as multiplayer. It'll be released for free, naturally, "when it's done." Read more »

The downloadable Xbox 360 edition of 3D Realms' classic shooter Duke Nukem 3D is being honored as Xbox Live's "Deal of the Week" and is now available to Xbox Live Gold members at half-off, making the re-release just 400 Microsoft Points / $5.

An iPhone and iPod Touch release of 3D Realms' classic shooter Duke Nukem 3D is due "very soon," according to IGN.
Mobile developer Machineworks Northwest, responsible for the iPhone and iPod Touch release of Prey Invasion, is handling the port.
As with Prey Invasion, Duke Nukem 3D will use on-screen control bars (seen above) for movement and aiming, with firing handled either by tapping a foe or the fire button. Read more »

Good Old Games has announced that it will begin selling classic PC games published by Apogee Software, starting with the immediate availability of Duke Nukem 3D.
For $5.99, buyers will be able to download the Atomic Edition of Duke Nukem 3D, billed as the "most complete version" of 3D Realms' ass-kicking, bubblegum-chewing shooter. As with all other GOG releases, the download is DRM-free. Read more »

These days, there are probably a lot of gamers out there that haven't played Duke Nukem 3D. Now that 3D Realms' classic shooter is hitting Xbox Live Arcade, they might wonder what all the fuss is about, like a "movie fan" who loves The Sopranos and still hasn't seen Goodfellas.
