Dishonored was one of our favorites of 2012. It got a good deal of buzz through word-of-mouth, however, so you couldn't be blamed for picking it up after release and missing out on the exclusive pre-order bonuses. The good news is the four pre-order packs will be bundled together into one and put on sale May 14, for $3.99.

The dastardly Daud offers his side of the story in a gameplay trailer for Dishonored's upcoming DLC 'The Knife of Dunwall,' where you'll get to play as the legendary assassin himself. It's not all smiles and merriment killing an Empress, though.

Much as the game allowed you to choose your own play style, Dishonored always felt to me like it was meant to be a stealth game first and foremost. Corvo was such a nimble and capable assassin, I tried to avoid direct combat and usually only got into it by mistake. By contrast Daud, the star of the upcoming Knife of Dunwall downloadable content, is a mirror reflection of Corvo. His superficial similarities hide a much more aggressive approach.

This generation's focus on online connectivity and publishers' recent attempts to curb used game sales has resulted in multiplayer modes being outfitted for games that previously hadn't seen them. This has led some to lament the death of the pure single-player game experience. Dishonored creative director Harvey Smith feels that those reports are greatly exaggerated.

Having avenged the Empress's death in Dishonored's main story, players will now get to slip on the coat of the chap who killed her. After a little tease yesterday, publisher Bethesda Softworks this morning announced 'The Knife of Dunwall', a DLC mini-campaign coming on April 17 for $10. Hey, this post contains spoilers, if you hadn't guessed.

Even though the surprise has been somewhat spoiled by a Trophy leak, Bethesda's tease of the next Dishonored downloadable content sheds a little more light on it. A screenshot released by the company today hints at who you'll be playing as, and more importantly, when. Spoilers to follow.

Dishonored may be an original game coming from 2012, but it had the feel of classics such as Thief and Deus Ex, with a bit of Arx Fatalis thrown in. Whether I wanted to stealth my way through, or leave bodies in my wake, Dishonored took me on an emotional roller-coaster ride.

A few years ago, the idea that the sandbox-y first-person stealth-ish shooter could ever find a second wind would be met with sorry sighs. Delightfully, after Deus Ex: Human Revolution last year and now Dishonored, the future's looking grand for the genre time almost forgot. Dishonored publisher Bethesda Softworks has said that sales of Arkane's sneak 'em up are "far exceeding" expectations, and dubbed it "a new franchise."
