The first Assassin's Creed 2 developer diary introduces the sequel's star Ezio, a 15th century Florentine budding banker who spends his nights stabbing people in the neck.
Assassin's Creed 2 is due November 17 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with Ubisoft promising "more variety in missions, surprising and engaging new gameplay elements, diverse weapons and a profound character progression" over the original.

There wasn't a whole lot of interesting news out of the Ubisoft E3 press conference, but the French publisher did announce that Assassin's Creed will be released November 17. Previously, the company maintained a "holiday" release window.

Ubisoft is putting a tremendous amount of resources behind the development of its sequel to 2007's popular open-world wetworker Assassins' Creed.
According to Ubisoft producer Sebastien Puel, the Assassin's Creed 2 team has now ballooned to the size of a small army, with 450 employees devoted to the single title. Read more »

Ubisoft Montreal's open-world murder-oriented action game sequel Assassin's Creed II will arrive on "all current-generation platforms" in "holiday 2009," publisher Ubisoft has revealed.

Update: Having seen the latest issue of Game Informer, Shacknews can now confirm that, despite the misspellings, the below list of details is indeed accurate.
Original: A list of supposed details from Assassin's Creed 2 has popped up at ScrewAttack.
Alongside the rumored information, the site posted a render of new main character Ezio, which apparently leaked on the Ubisoft Forums. In addition, the details seem to match up with the teases Game Informer posted after ScrewAttack's report surfaced. Read more »

A brief tease of Assassin's Creed 2 is now available for viewing over at the official site.
Of course, all facets of the site other than the creepy, airbrushed Da Vicini wallpaper/video are currently off limits. But the page that takes you back to Ubisoft proper is labeled "Exit Experience," so you know this website is more than your average mild-mannered website. Read more »

Ubisoft today revealed that Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell Conviction and a new Ghost Recon game, among others, will be released across its next fiscal year, which spans April 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010.
Though the company only yesterday said that Darkworks' first-person survival game I Am Alive would arrive in March, the game has been delayed, with Ubisoft noting that it "will require further development time and will now bolster the line-up for 2009-10." Read more »

Work on the sequel to last year's open-world old-time murder simulator Assassin's Creed is still progressing at developer Ubistoft Montreal, according to a new interview with the studio's Prince of Persia animation director David Wilkinson.
After praising the efforts of animator Alex Drouin, Wilkinson told AusGamers that Drouin is "busy making [Assassin's Creed lead] Altair even more beautiful, adding that the last time he saw Dourin's work he "was getting Altair to swim." Read more »
