Tickets for Blizzard's annual fan convention BlizzCon will be go on sale in late May in two lots, the developer has announced. If you're painfully desperate to go, you might want to book two days off work so you can sit in the queue.

The first batch of $175 tickets will go on sale at 10am PST on Saturday, May 21. The second round will be available on Wednesday, May 25 at 7pm PST. BlizzCon 2011 is on October 21 and 22 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Read more »

Blizzard documentary celebrates 20-year history

As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, much-loved developer Blizzard Entertainment has released a lengthy retrospective documentary delving into, and retelling, its history.

The 48-minute video spans from Blizzard's beginnings as Silicon & Synapse, formed in 1991 by a handful of UCLA graduates, through to the present day, when it's known and loved for series including StarCraft, Diablo and Warcraft. Heaps of Blizzard luminaries appear, offering opinions and anecdotes about the company whose games we so adore. Read more »

Continuing to support the acclaimed action-RPG after nearly a decade, Blizzard today released the long-awaited 1.13c update for Diablo 2 (PC) and its expansion.

The update brings a host of tweaks and changes, including the ability to respec characters and improved support for windowed mode, complete with blit scaling.

Blizzard today continues its sex-based Diablo III media blasts with new screenshots and artwork showing off the PC action RPG's previously-revealed female Witch Doctor, hot on the heels of recent revelations of the female monk and male wizard.

Blizzard has yet to reveal when Diablo III will be released--stating only that it won't be this year--but does concede they have "always announced all of our games too early." Read more »

Nielsen's Most Played PC Games of 2008

Along with its list of the most-played consoles in 2008, research group The Nielsen Company has provided its list of the past year's most popular PC games in the US.

Of the ten titles, none were released in 2008, and only 2 debuted in 2007. The list is based off data from January through October 2008, meaning that the impact of the second World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, was not taken into account. Read more »

Blizzard has announced that the Diablo 2 1.11 patch is now available, only a few days after the initial announcement. At FileShack you can download the patch for the original game and the Lord of Destruction expansion pack. Read about changes at Battle.net.

In other Blizzard news the company has announced it is closing Blizzard North, moving most of its employees there to the Irvine headquarters. The (former) North team is working on an unannounced project.
