Last year's Transformers game continued High Moon Studios' legacy of great licensed games. They may not pick up Game of the Year awards, but they're certainly well-liked by fans. Deadpool seems destined to continue that winning streak with a competent brawler designed as a love letter for fans.
In the meta-story of Deadpool: The Game, developer HMS is coerced into developing a game centered around our titular hero after he mails a bomb to their office. No fourth wall will be safe, as the game's narrative centers around Deadpool's attempt to not only make his game real, but as sexy as possible.

Deadpool is preparing to star in his very own game. High Moon Studios announced today that the game will release on June 25, and cost $49.99 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, or $39.99 on PC. And because he's such a swell murderous psychopath, he comes with a few pre-orders too.

The Marvel comics character Deadpool has the unique distinction of being self-aware that he's inside a comic book. He'll crack inside jokes, read other characters' thought bubbles, and so on. When it comes time to make a trailer for the upcoming video game from High Moon Studios, the obvious course of action is to take that seed of meta and grow it into a full-blown crazy tree.

Given how often Marvel characters cross and intersect in their own comic books and movies, video games featuring the franchise characters are often quick with the cameos. Deadpool is a very singular character, but the merc with the mouth is getting some company from the grizzled Cable in his upcoming game from High Moon Studios.

Meta comic book star Deadpool will be starring in his own video game, Activision has announced at San Diego Comic-Con. High Moon Studios, developer of the most recent Transformers games, is working on the project.
The first footage of the game shows off Deadpool's trademark sarcastic attitude combined with some very M-rated gun and sword play.
