Pipeworks studio head Robert Daly's military credentials have come under scrutiny recently, after a group researched his records. Daly has been identifying himself as a former Green Beret, lending credence to a military expert guiding the Deadliest Warrior series. This led one former Master Sergeant to do some digging with official government agencies.

Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat is coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 this December. But, isn't it too soon after the release of Deadliest Warrior: Legends to announce a brand new game? You're right! Ancient Combat isn't a new game. Instead, it's a retail re-release of the two downloadable games, with additional on-disc content.

The fighter based on the ultimate "What if?" television show Deadliest Warrior is finally coming to the PlayStation 3.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Spike Games creative director Prithvi Virasinghe revealed the PlayStation 3 version of the downloadable title will tweak the balance for the game, specifically pointing out that the Ninja was overpowered in the original release, along with tuning weaker fighters. Forecasting & Analyzing Digital Entertainment (FADE) is reporting that Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade enjoyed its best month to date in August, built on the strength of the Summer of Arcade promotion.
According to the report, Microsoft brought in $17.5 million in August 2010 over $16.5 million in August 2009, which was the second year of the Summer of Arcade promotion. The report presents a top 10 list of games sold, ranked by revenue generated, and includes the total number of copies purchased. Note that some titles were not included in the Summer of Arcade promotion or were released before August. Read more »

"Television show turned XBLA game adaptation" Deadliest Warrior joins DeathSpank as this week's Xbox Live Arcade offering, Major Nelson recently posted. Based on the Spike TV show of the same name, Deadliest Warrior pits two fighters of varying lethality against each other in the extremely scientific mission to discover who is (or was) the ultimate human killing machine. DeathSpank includes unicorn poop as a item, which is all you need to know about the Ron Gilbert-designed title before you start saving your Microsoft space dollars.
Deadliest Warrior will be available for 800MS Points ($10), while DeathSpank asks 1200MS points ($15) to join the epic quest. Read more »

Spike TV's Deadliest Warrior series pits iconic warriors from different historical eras against each other in one-on-one virtual gladiatorial duels. To simulate the battles on the show they analyze the combatants in detail, examining their typical tactics and performing a battery of tests on their weaponry. The first season included matchups like Viking vs. Samurai and Pirate vs. Knight. It sounds like the setup for a videogame and sure enough, as revealed during the VGA's, it's getting a fighting game adaptation due out as a downloadable title later this year.

A downloadable game inspired by Spike TV game show Deadliest Warrior will hit unspecified platforms in 2010, the network revealed during its award show tonight.
Development is being handled by Godzilla: Unleashed veteran Pipeworks.
