Dante's Inferno Super Bowl Ad is Surprisingly Classy

EA has given an advance look at the Dante's Inferno television commercial due to be shown during the Super Bowl on Sunday, revealing a somewhat different approach to marketing Visceral Games' blood-soaked adaptation of the revered epic poem.

Seemingly playing to an audience it believes more refined than your average video gamer, EA has cast aside the painfully snappy tagline "Go to Hell" in favour of the philosophical--and less controversy-courting--"Hell Awaits" and focuses more on a tale of love and damnation than demonic doors opened by stabbing them in the guts. Dante's Inferno Edition of Dante Alighieri's 'Inferno' Announced

Developer Visceral Games has announced a confounding Dante's Inferno-branded "special edition" of fourteenth-century Italian poet Dante Alighieri's 'Inferno,' the allegorical epic poem that its God of War-style bloodbath is tangentially inspired by.

The gaudy trade paperback contains the respected Longfellow translation of Inferno with an introduction by executive producer Jonathan Knight and sixteen pages of art showing "the evolution of characters and environments from the classic poem to the video game." Read more »

Dante's Inferno Trailer: 'Like a High School Reunion, Except You Get to Cut Everyone's Heads Off'

"You have to fight these guys, right here and right now," developer Visceral Games says of Fraud, the eighth circle of hell, in this trailer for its poetic beat 'em up Dante's Inferno.

"[It's] like a high school reunion, except you get to cut everyone's heads off."

Thing is, they're talking about fraud. Can we trust them? Is it actually the hardest circle in the game, or is this a clever ruse to hide a level filled with rainbows and unicorns? Read more »
