A job posting hit Electronic Arts' site today for a "Lead Level Designer" at Visceral Games to work on a "sequel to a major new IP at the" studio. Should Dante's Inferno 2 be in the works, the timing is right for hiring to begin with the original game having been released in February and Dead Space 2 well into development.

As revealed before the game even properly released, the downloadable "Trials of St. Lucia" add-on for Dante's Inferno hit the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 today.
Priced at 800 Microsoft Points / $10, the add-on brings a cooperative online multiplayer mode and accompanying gameplay editor to Visceral's poetic beat 'em up:

If, like me, you're a huge fan of Saint Lucy, you're no doubt eager to see how her appearance in the Dante's Inferno video game by Visceral Games as downloadable content relates to her mysterious role in Dante Alighieri's epic allegory Inferno.

The next batch of downloadable content for Dante's Inferno arrives in under a month--April 29, to be exact--and to make sure we don't forget, publisher Electronic Arts passed along some new screenshots of both 'The Trials of St. Lucia' and the 'Dark Forest' DLC.
The as-yet-unpriced 'Trials of St. Lucia' add-on brings a new playable character--St. Lucia herself--and online coopertaive play to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the hellish beat 'em up, plus a gameplay editor so you can make your own trials. Read more »

The first of the two announced Dante's Inferno DLC offerings is now available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Dark Forest DLC will run you $4.99 / 400 MS Points.
Included in the pack are "the Disco Inferno costume, Stone of Wrath relic, and a prequel level featuring new enemies, puzzles, and storyline!" Read more »

BioShock 2 isn't the only major release of the week, what with Visceral's poetic action game Dante's Inferno now hitting PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360s in North America.
The celebrate the occasion, publisher Electronic Arts has issued a new developer diary that examines Treachy--the ninth and final circle of you-know-where. Two Dante's Inferno downloadable content packs were officially announced today by EA after word recently leaked of one, while plans for DLC item packs were also revealed.
'Dark Forest' will arrive in March bringing "a prequel level that tells the story of Dante's journey home and features new enemies, puzzles and relics," while on April 29 'Trials of St. Lucia' will add a new playable character, online co-op and a combat trials editor. Read more »

EA has given an advance look at the Dante's Inferno television commercial due to be shown during the Super Bowl on Sunday, revealing a somewhat different approach to marketing Visceral Games' blood-soaked adaptation of the revered epic poem.
Seemingly playing to an audience it believes more refined than your average video gamer, EA has cast aside the painfully snappy tagline "Go to Hell" in favour of the philosophical--and less controversy-courting--"Hell Awaits" and focuses more on a tale of love and damnation than demonic doors opened by stabbing them in the guts. As often happens when games are sent to stores in advance of their release date, someone out there nabbed an early copy of Dante's Inferno. This particular someone noticed a trailer detailing a downloadable add-on that will bring online co-op and a gameplay editor on April 29, then shared it with the world via YouTube.

Developer Visceral Games has announced a confounding Dante's Inferno-branded "special edition" of fourteenth-century Italian poet Dante Alighieri's 'Inferno,' the allegorical epic poem that its God of War-style bloodbath is tangentially inspired by.
The gaudy trade paperback contains the respected Longfellow translation of Inferno with an introduction by executive producer Jonathan Knight and sixteen pages of art showing "the evolution of characters and environments from the classic poem to the video game." Read more »

"You have to fight these guys, right here and right now," developer Visceral Games says of Fraud, the eighth circle of hell, in this trailer for its poetic beat 'em up Dante's Inferno.
"[It's] like a high school reunion, except you get to cut everyone's heads off."
Thing is, they're talking about fraud. Can we trust them? Is it actually the hardest circle in the game, or is this a clever ruse to hide a level filled with rainbows and unicorns? Read more »
