"What's inside the cube?" the world cried as one, tapping furiously at its many touchscreens. The cube did not answer, for the cube is all overloaded and a bit wonky right now. Peter Molyneux and his 22Cans studio are now soliciting donations for the tap-tapping experiment to beef up Curiosity's servers so people can continue the quest to uncover the hidden secret at the core which we're fairly confident will be massively underwhelming but still are pretty well, curious, about.

The past three days have been the most satisfying in the entire lives of iOS and Android gadgeteers, since Peter Molyneux's Curiosity launched early. "What's inside the cube?" The question that drives us all. We wake up screaming it. We form mashed potato into gigantic cubes. Pity the poor PCnauts, who have yet to reawaken in this new world, and may never, unless 22Cans can get some support.

Curiouser and curiouser, Peter Molyneux and 22Can's experimental cube-clicker Curiosity was released ahead of schedule this morning. It was due to arrive tomorrow morning at 22 minutes past midnight, in reference to the studio's name, but a slip means we can all get on with the undoubtedly underwhelming experience of clicking on a cube to see what's inside sooner.

Peter Molyneux is using his new studio, 22Cans, to explore his infamous flights of fancy in game design. The first such experiment is the iPhone game Curiosity: What's in the Box, which will let users join in a global effort to unwrap a giant package, one layer at a time. Only one user will get to see what was in the box, and it will be up to that person to spread the word. Molyneux is expecting 21 more to follow, and he already has the second one in the works.

It appears that people's curiosity over NASA's Mars rover is starting to interfere with Peter Molyneux's cube-chiseling concept app. So the search for a new name has begun, with Molyneux getting plenty of suggestions via Twitter.

Video gaming's favourite uncle Peter Molyneux unveiled the first fruit of his new company, 22Cans, at E3, and it's about strange as you'd expect. Curiosity is the first of 22 experiments into the psychology of players, based around chiselling away at a massive cube--and part of the experiment is selling a unique in-game chisel for £50,000 (around $78,000). Oh, Uncle Petey!

Peter Molyneux has been hard at work setting up his new indie studio, 22 Cans. And while the well-known developer hasn't detailed the studio's first major project, he has revealed a series of experimental games that will be released digitally as the studio prepares its first full-fledged game. It's called, aptly enough, "22 Experiments."
