Time to upgrade, folks. Crytek has released the first official screenshots for its upcoming FPS Crysis 2, which uses the new CryENGINE 3. They look really, really good.
The game will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 later this year. I'm guessing these shots are from the PC version, though. Read more »

Admit it, you love looking at videos showing off lighting features in graphics engines. Especially when that engine is Crytek's CryENGINE 3, currently being used for the upcoming Crysis 2.Crysis 2, the shooter follow-up to the original title, is slated for release in late 2010 and will mark the franchise's first appearance on consoles.

Curious as to what mega-publisher Electronic Arts has up its sleeve for the next year?
Wonder no more, as the company today issued a breakdown of its major titles through March 2011, including release windows for Crysis 2, Dead Space 2, Medal of Honor, the new shooter coming out of Epic and People Can Fly, "something far-reaching from Mass Effect," another Dragon Age, a new Spore entry, and much much more. It's been a long wait for Crysis 2 details, but they're finally starting to trickle in.
"Aliens invading NYC? No problem!" declares the March 2010 cover of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, with editor-in-chief Gary Steinman tweeting "Crysis 2 set in NYC!!"
While the original tropical island-set Crysis was exclusive to the PC, Crysis 2 is in the works for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with publisher Electronic Arts recently suggesting that the game will arrive between April 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011. Read more »

Laying out the company's next fiscal year, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello today revealed release timeframes for several previously undated games.
In his words, we can expect the following titles between April 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011: "a great new version of Medal of Honor, a revitalized Need for Speed, Sims on console, FIFA in a World Cup year, an innovative and new take on Madden, Dead Space 2, Crysis...an MMA game, and many others." Crytek today unleashed the third iteration of its CryEngine graphics platform in announcing the official release of CryEngine 3.
The engine is the Crytek's first stab at a cross-platform solution, allowing developers to work with a single editor and output the results to a PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in real-time. Other, more flashy features are outlined in the following video:

Crytek has distributed the first trailer for Crysis 2, the shooter sequel in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

EA Partners will publish Crysis 2, Electronic Arts and CryTek announced today. Though devoid of any details on the game and no release date estimate, today's announcement did reveal that the CryEngine 3 powered game will head to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, in addition to a PC release.
"The development of Crysis 2 marks a major stepping stone for our studio," said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, adding "This is not only the next game in the Crysis franchise, it's the first title we are developing for consoles and the first title being built on CryENGINE 3. We are excited to have the support of EA Partners again as we work together to make the launch of Crysis 2 a huge event." Read more »
