Red Faction Update

The Red Faction site has word of a new patch for the game, currently available through the Update section of the game launch program. The 1.10 patch fixes various bugs, all of which are listed on the site. Thanks Blues News.

Red Faction SDK Released

Volition's FPS Red Faction should be hitting stores in the US just about now, and to celebrate, Volition has released a toolkit for the game. This toolkit will allow you to create your own content for the game. There is readme available here. You can get the 2.88mb toolkit from 3D Downloads or the Descent Network.

This is a collection of in-house utilities and exporters for players to use when creating custom content for Red Faction levels and mods. These tools enable easy addition of custom character models, animations, special effects, level editor objects, and more.

New Red Faction Demo

Gigex is playing host to a revised version of the Red Faction demo. It offers the single and multiplayer demo together in a single 81mb download. Update: Blues News is reporting that this demo isn't just a combination of the previously released single and multiplayer demo, but it also comes with new single player levels from a later part of the game. Blue's also has a mirror of the file.

Red Faction Interview

German site Krawall has posted an interview with Volition producer James Tsai, asking him several questions about Red Faction which should be coming out shortly. There are questions about the development time, the story, differences between the PS2 version and the PC version, the GeoMod engine, features that were cut from the full version, ease of making mods, and why RF should be bought.
