Sony announced the winners of its 2012 "Gamer's Choice" awards (promotion) today. These will be the 10 games that you can claim steep discounts on for the next week, starting tonight when the PlayStation Store updates. Each one will be discounted 30%, or 50% if you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

On Wednesday we announced 1995's classic role-playing title Chrono Trigger was the next addition our growing list of video game classics, presented by MobyGames.com.

Chrono Trigger is widely regarded as one of the best classic Japanese role-playing games ever made, due in no small part to its time-travelling storyline with multiple endings, memorable characters, and epic scope. Since its release on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995, the game has been ported to several other platforms, including the DS, PlayStation, and iPhone OS.

Chrono Trigger iOS release coming December

Legendary RPG Chrono Trigger continues its expansion across platforms. Square Enix has announced that Chrono Trigger will be available on iPhone and iPod Touch in December.

As seen by the first screenshot, the UI will be adjusted for the iOS touch screen release. Player status has been moved to the top of the screen, with large, touchable icons appearing on the bottom of the screen. The font has also been adjusted to be more legible, although purists will likely find the changes a bit disconcerting.

Chrono Trigger coming to PSN Oct. 4

After a long wait and an unfortunate scheduling error, Chrono Trigger has finally been given a firm release date for its PlayStation Network debut in North America.

The classic Super Nintendo-era RPG from developer and publisher Squaresoft (now known as Square Enix) is set to launch on the PlayStation Network on October 4.

Original Story: Two of Square Enix's most famous and beloved RPGs are hitting the PlayStation Network in one week, promising that those nostalgic for the days of the Super NES will have plenty to keep them occupied. Both Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI have been announced as this week's PSOne classics, so they should release along with the rest of the PlayStation Store update tomorrow.

Chrono Trigger coming to iOS & Android

Square Enix is planning on aggressively expanding its support for mobile games through its new "Square Enix Market" initiative for Android. The portal, announced for Android devices in Japan, will support games and apps.

To coincide with the announcement, Square Enix has revealed a number of upcoming games for Android and iOS. Final Fantasy Legends, Itadaki Street, and Dragon Quest Monsters will all be receiving mobile ports for both iOS and Android. However, perhaps the most noteworthy port of all is Chrono Trigger.

Nintendo downloads: Chrono Trigger on Virtual Console

Nintendo unleashed its latest round of downloads today, including the previously announced SNES classic Chrono Trigger for Virtual Console. It will cost you $8 (800 points) and -- not to impugn the other games in this week's list -- is definitely the thing you should buy if you haven't played it before (maybe even if you have).

Nintendo has confirmed that the role-playing game classic Chrono Trigger is coming to the Virtual Console. On May 16, the Square-developed title--which originally released for the SNES in 1995--will launch on the Nintendo Wii for 800 Wii Points.

Chrono Trigger's digital debut in North America was heavily rumored, after the game was confirmed to launch on the European and Japanese Virtual Console storefronts. Gas was poured over hints of the game's release when the ESRB listed the game for Wii earlier this month. Read more »

It appears that Crono and his pals are headed to the Virtual Console, after all. According to an ESRB listing spotted by Siliconera, the classic SNES role-playing title Chrono Trigger is being prepped for the Nintendo Wii.

While the listing doesn't explicitly state the game will arrive on Nintendo's classic console game channel, all signs point to this being the case. Chrono Trigger has already been confirmed for the Japanese and European Virtual Console storefronts; as well as recently being listed by the ESRB for the PS3 and PSP. Read more »

Chrono Trigger DS Hits Retailers on November 28, Includes New Dungeons, Arena Mode

Publisher Square Enix has formally announced a release date for the DS edition of its celebrated SNES RPG classic Chrono Trigger, slated for release on November 28.

In addition to new dungeons built specifically for the game's Nintendo DS appearance, Square Enix revealed that the game will include an Arena mode, which "add[s] exciting new dimensions" to the classic RPG. No further details were immediately available. Read more »

Chrono Trigger DS Hands-on: Blast from the Past

With such an extensive roster of remakes and revisions of classic titles both released and in development, it seemed inevitable that Square Enix would eventually return to its classic SNES RPG Chrono Trigger. Inevitability aside, it's a well-deserved retread.

As previously revealed, the title's Nintendo DS appearance is a straight port—no fancy 3D graphics, no voice acting. Simply the game as you likely remember it or a bit crisper, thanks to a sharp LCD screen. Read more »

Chrono Trigger DS Revealed, Due 'This Holiday'

Update 3: Square Enix has officially announced that the enhanced DS port of Chrono Trigger will hit North America "this holiday season."

The company noted that, beyond the changes listed below, the revamp "maintains all of the game's original elements." Read more »
