The PC edition of Zoe Mode's splendid musical puzzler Chime will cost a mere $4.99, Steam has revealed by opening pre-purchasing--the same as it did on Xbox 360.
A bit like Lumines blended with Tetris, Chime involves building up a music track by combining different-shaped blocks to cover the play area. Tracks from artists including Moby and Orbital's Paul Hartnoll are on offer, with the PC's 'Portal Edition' also packing Jonathan Coulton's iconic song 'Still Alive' from the Portal soundtrack--as seen below. While regular practice on the Xbox Live Marketplace is to have a single piece of content featured as the "Deal of Week," this week's promotion features six XBLA titles. Not just six regular titles, mind you. No, these six titles are critical darlings, according to the name of this week's promotion that is.

Microsoft has confirmed that non-profit publisher OneBigGame will be rolling out its first release, the musical puzzler Chime, to the Xbox Live Marketplace come Wednesday, February 3.
Priced at 400 Microsoft Points ($5), the downloadable Xbox 360 game was crafted pro bono by Zoe Mode. Among the studio's past work are contributions to the SingStar, Guitar Hero, Disney Sing It, Dancing with the Stars and Rock Revolution franchises, along with the mind-bending puzzler Crush. Non-profit publisher OneBigGame has announced its first for-charity game 'Chime,' an musical puzzler by Crush developer Zoe Mode crossing Lumines with Tetris.
Sporting music by artists including Moby and Orbital's Paul Hartnoll, Chime hits Xbox Live Arcade this winter with a PC release also coming "soon." All net proceeds on OneBigGame titles from a "limited "exclusivity period"--four to twelve months--go to charity projects including Save the Children and Starlight Children's Foundation. Read more »

Rockstar Leeds has revealed that its music-making title Beaterator is headed to the PSP on September 29, breaking years of silence following a delay from summer 2007.
Based on a free online sequencer and sampler Rockstar released in 2005, the PSP version of Beaterator is being developed in conjunction with famed music producer Timbaland, who also lends his dulcet tones and chunky beats to a new teaser trailer.
