A batch of free downloadable content for Midnight Club: Los Angeles was mistakenly posted on the Xbox Live Marketplace last night. Though now removed, Microsoft is advising anyone who downloaded the pack to delete it as "it may not work properly."
"The Achievements won't register and [it] could cause you problems with your Midnight Club: LA game saves," reads EMEA Xbox community manager Graeme Boyd's blog. Read more »

Rockstar San Diego's open-world racer Midnight Club: Los Angeles (PS3, 360) will gain two downloadable content packs early next year--one free, one paid--that will expand the game world and add a variety of new vehicles and race.
Roughly 1/3 the size of the original map, the free South Central Upgrade Map adds a number of landmarks, such as Exposition Park, the USC campus, Shrine Auditorium, Crenshaw Plaza, and the L.A. Memorial Coliseum, with Rockstar adding that the new area "stretches south to the 105 Freeway." Read more »

Rockstar Games has announced the availability of a title update for its racing game sequel Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Available for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, the patch offers improved AI that dynamically adjusts to the user skill level -- many reviews noted the game was incredibly difficult.
The Xbox 360 patch also adds extra leaderboards for tournaments through the Rockstar Games Social Club, improved multiplayer match searching, and "upgraded streaming and performance".

Following the failure of Flagship Studios and Hellgate: London, former Blizzard Entertainment director Bill Roper has joined Cryptic Studios, the MMO developer announced today.
Roper will serve as Design Director on Champions Online, Cryptic's new massively multiplayer online superhero title based on the Champions role playing game.
Said Cryptic Studios CEO John Needham, "Bill brings a ton of creative energy to the Cryptic office and we're thrilled to have him join our team. His years of gaming and online experience are huge assets to all of our projects, and Bill will assist us in furthering our studio's vision to create innovative, exciting MMO gameplay."

Rockstar San Diego's oft-postponed racer Midnight Club: Los Angeles (PS3, 360) has suffered yet another delay, publisher Take-Two Interactive announced today.
Once slated to arrive on October 7, the game's release has now been pushed until October 21. In a conference call today, Take-Two CFO Lainie Goldstein explained that the delay was due to marketing reasons. Read more »

Well, shucks. I'm not much for MMOs—my last oft-played MMO experience was years ago with CCP's Eve Online (PC)—but Cryptic Studios' Champions Online (PC, 360) might change all that.
Inspired by George McDonald's 1982 tabletop game, Champions Online marks developer Cryptic's second foray into the comic book MMO genre, following 2005's City of Heroes. The pervasive comic look of that game has seen an overhaul in Champions, with the comic shading and dark outlines around character silhouettes highlighting every enemy and character alike in the title. Take-Two Interactive today announced that it will be handling publishing duties for Champions Online, the next MMO from City of Heroes (PC) developer Cryptic Studios.
While Cryptic has been tight-lipped about the game's console release, Take-Two specified that the MMO will hit Xbox 360 in addition to PC next spring. Read more »

Midnight Club: Los Angeles is now slated to hit on October 7. A PSP version, titled Midnight Club: LA Remix and developed by Rockstar London, will arrive the same day.
