The 3DS-exclusive Castlevania: Lords of Shadow interquel has been delayed. Originally scheduled for release this fall, Mirror of Fate has been pushed to 2013. No reason was given to Game Informer for the delay, but it will position the handheld game closer to the upcoming Lords of Shadow 2.
Mirror of Fate isn't the only high-profile 3DS game to be delayed in recent weeks. Nintendo also announced that Luigi's Mansion has also dropped to 2013.

Developer MercurySteam's gritty take on the Castlevania franchise proved to be a tremendous success for Konami. According to the publisher, Lords of Shadow is the most successful Castlevania game ever. "Our intention is to tell our story and then move on to other things," producer David Cox said. "We have no intention of milking the series any further than that."

Mirror of Fate is an interesting marriage of Lords of Shadow and the classic 2D Metroidvania games. The game is played on a 2D plane, but features the combat of its 3D console counterparts.
